Welcome![edit]
Hello Quill-Tail! Welcome to UESPWiki! It's always good to have new members. If you would like to help improve any of our pages, you may want to take a look at the following links:
- Policies and Guidelines: UESPWiki standards and expectations
- Help Contents: a list of in-depth Help pages
- Quick Editing Guide: a quick guide to wiki markup

If you would like to spice up your userpage, click here for a list of userboxes you can use, including a guide to making your own.
When you're editing, it's always a good idea to leave edit summaries to explain the changes you have made to a particular page, and remember to sign your talk page posts with four tildes ~~~~. Also, the "show preview" button is a great way to view the changes you've made so far without actually saving the page (our patrollers really appreciate it!).

laying vs lying[edit]
From what I know, Laying is the past tense form of lying, so something was laying there, but is now lying over here. However, online dictionary tells me it is the Present participle of lay. One of lay's definitions is "(intransitive, nonstandard) to lie (be in a horizontal or resting position)." Not sure if all that is correct though. How about we change it (actually it may already be this was) so that the tense is present? The probe's are lying on the shelf. That seem fair? Jeancey (talk) 17:58, 1 June 2013 (GMT)
- Okay, sounds good to me! And yeah, laying is the present participle of lay. You're right on lay meaning to lie down, as the past tense for lie. Lay (present tense) means to cause something to lie down, and its past tense is laid. These words can get pretty confusing... --Quill-Tail (talk) 18:11, 1 June 2013 (GMT)
Oblivion House Visual Bugs[edit]
Since you seem to be working on the OBHRP pages, it would be worth investigating bugs like this to see if the unofficial patch fixes them. A lot of these placement-related visual bugs were fixed. The changelog can be located here. —Legoless (talk) 13:53, 8 June 2013 (GMT)
- Oh okay, I'll go check on them. Thanks for pointing out! --Quill-Tail (talk) 14:02, 8 June 2013 (GMT)

Brandon Ellison Might Voice The Augur Of Dunlain[edit]
It said on a Spanish Skyrim voice cast. Brandon Ellison came up as unknown for gangsters in Mafia 2, but when I go to the Mafia 2 IMDb page, it lists him there as voicing gangsters in that game. Brandon Ellison plays roles in Skyrim to be confirmed, but someone else voiced the Augur Of Dunlain in the Spanish version of Skyrim. Isn't that a coincidence? Dragon Guard (talk) 20:31, 7 July 2013 (GMT)
- Pretty sure they have different voice actors for different translations of the game, so yes, it may just be a coincidence. Unfortunately, I haven't found any resumes or other sources that can confirm this, but I'll keep what you said in mind while searching. --Quill-Tail? ! 21:09, 7 July 2013 (GMT)
Can you find Roger L Jackson's resume for Skyrim? Dragon Guard (talk) 06:16, 8 July 2013 (GMT)
- No, couldn't even find his official website. --Quill-Tail? ! 09:15, 8 July 2013 (GMT)
Voice Actors Sandbox[edit]
Hey Quill-Tail,
I see you have been doing some research on the Skyrim Voice Actors. I wanted to personally invite you to help me with my sandbox. Your effort in finding verifiable sources of information would be immensely helpful in my efforts to clean up that page. I will add your name to my allowed editors template, and hope to receive your assistance. --Nocte|Chat|Look 06:48, 8 July 2013 (GMT)

CK Hadvar's Dialogue to Haming[edit]
Where can the dialogue be found? I have looked everywhere. Dragon Guard (talk) 17:52, 8 July 2013 (GMT)
- I used CSList (it's an online database UESP editors use) to find it: here. --Quill-Tail? ! 18:05, 8 July 2013 (GMT)
Amaund Motierre appearance images[edit]
On his page in the 'Notes' section it says he changes appearance. Can there be two images next to each other on his NPC page showing this? Dragon Guard (talk) 18:10, 8 July 2013 (GMT)
- Hmm, I guess so. We can have the first picture (the one on top of the page) being Motierre in Volunruud and the second one placed lower (he grew a beard and cut his hair?) being him staying at the Bannered Mare. As long as the appearance can be encountered in normal gameplay, it shouldn't be a problem. --Quill-Tail? ! 18:13, 8 July 2013 (GMT)
Ok. Dragon Guard (talk) 18:17, 8 July 2013 (GMT)

For my sandboxes I am redeveloping Dexion Evicus's page in Sandbox 5. Feel free to help if you have the time. Dragon Guard (talk) 18:59, 9 July 2013 (GMT)

- You can still use the Skyrim data search thing. aka: CS List. Dragon Guard (talk) 19:06, 9 July 2013 (GMT)
- Yeah, CSList is like godsend to editors here xD Good luck with your project! You might want to focus on Dexion; Hadvar doesn't have much dialogue left (he plays a minor part after Unbound anyway). --Quill-Tail? ! 19:12, 9 July 2013 (GMT)

Help on Sandbox 6[edit]
Can you help me find out his dialogue in the quest: To Kill An Empire? I would like to put on the page what his dialogue options are to you before he let's you in. There is alot of dialogue for that part. Can you also check if during the quest Hail Sithis!, if he has the conversation with a Penitus Oculatus Agent? The conversation needs verification on that. Dragon Guard (talk) 20:17, 10 July 2013 (GMT)
If you find any dialogue, feel free to add it to Sandbox 6. Dragon Guard (talk) 20:21, 10 July 2013 (GMT)
- Done, I added his dialogue before you enter the Emperor's Tower. I also checked the conversation, and yes, it can (technically, at least) happen during Hail Sithis!. Here. --Quill-Tail? ! 09:17, 11 July 2013 (GMT)
Replies to Rumors[edit]
Hey there! I noticed you added the replies to the rumors on Edgar Vautrine's page. I'm just curious as to where you find the replies to the rumors in CSList; I've searched in the past for them but could never find them. I've always had to go in-game and try to hear them. Thanks in advance! Forfeit (talk) 17:29, 11 July 2013 (GMT)
- I just checked in "Dialogue Text", searched for "discount" and looked at the INFO entries. Here's the search page. I hope this helps! --Quill-Tail? ! 17:37, 11 July 2013 (GMT)
Sandbox 7 Discerning the Transmundane dialogue help[edit]
I am putting Urag's dialogue for the quest in Sandbox 7 soon. I was wondering if you could check it as well as me. I am checking it, but if you check it as well, it might help the sandbox job get done faster. Dragon Guard (talk) 21:43, 13 July 2013 (GMT)
- Hmm, I'll try to check it later today then. I'm pretty sure he only offers dialogue and a minor part in the quest, so it's nothing much to check. —<({Quill-Tail>> 21:50, 13 July 2013 (GMT)
It's the dialogue when you see Urag about an Elder Scroll. He does have a bit of dialogue in the quest Discerning the Transmundane, actually. Dragon Guard (talk) 06:41, 14 July 2013 (GMT)
My mistake, it was Sandbox 7. Dragon Guard (talk) 06:44, 14 July 2013 (GMT)
- Done! I only had to tweak a little and add one line you missed. Everything else is spot on. —<({Quill-Tail>> 12:08, 14 July 2013 (GMT)

- Thanks. Dragon Guard (talk) 12:36, 14 July 2013 (GMT)
In Sandbox 7, for the quest Fetch me that book! (The repeatable quest that Urag Gro-Shub gives after joining the College of Winterhold) I would like a little help on conditions for when he says certain dialogue. In the CK, there appear to be two quests on this, but they appear the same to me. To help you figure out the dialogue, the quests Editor D's are:
- MGR20
- MGR20B
Dragon Guard (talk) 13:57, 14 July 2013 (GMT)
- Hmm, from CSList on MGR20 and MGR20B, the only differences I can see is the dialogue. Here's what I gathered:
- Both 20 and 20B: "Is there any College business I can assist with?"
- 20 only: "If you're feeling adventurous, I'm always looking for someone to procure valuable books from some more... dangerous locations." OR "There are more books to be recovered and secured here in the Arcanaeum."
- 20B only: "There are more books to be recovered and secured in the Arcanaeum." (the word "here" is missing)
- 20 only: "I'm not really interested in anything dangerous." "Ah. Some other time, perhaps?"
- 20B only: "I'm not really interested in dangerous." (the word "anything" is missing) "Some other time, then."
- Both: "I'm ready for some adventure." The reply depends on the quest version:
- 20 only: "Well all right. Here, I scribbled down the last place I'd heard about. Check it out, but be careful."
- 20B only: "All right. I wrote down the last place I'd heard about. Don't get killed."
- Both 20 and 20B: "Here's the book you were looking for." "Looks like you're still in one piece. And more importantly, so is the book. Thank you." (His line is the same for both 20 and 20B)
- From the dialogue above, I'm pretty sure I've done both versions of the quest in game. They're the same thing-- Urag sends you to a radiant dungeon to fetch the book. I think the best way to write this is as one quest, noting the dialogue variations above. —<({Quill-Tail>> 14:22, 14 July 2013 (GMT)
-
- Why are there two quests when it is just a duplicate quest? Dragon Guard (talk) 14:25, 14 July 2013 (GMT)
- Well, in-game both of them will appear the same, so I don't think most players know that this quest actually has two variations. I believe the duplication was to give more variation to the dialogue, so we should document it. —<({Quill-Tail>> 14:30, 14 July 2013 (GMT)

Sandbox 7 Urag Shalidor's Insight Dialogue[edit]
The last part of dialogue left. Please can you help add it to the sandbox? I cannot go on the CK for the time being now so I won't be able to get all the dialogue for the quest Shalidor's Insight. After this part pretty much all of his quest dialogue will be done. Dragon Guard (talk) 16:29, 14 July 2013 (GMT)
- Done! Checked in game and via CSList. —<({Quill-Tail>> 23:50, 14 July 2013 (GMT)

Merged spells into main description on Vahlok's page[edit]
I will be working on Vahlok's page for a while. Meanwhile, can you merge the spells Miraak knows into his main description? Dragon Guard (talk) 21:03, 18 July 2013 (GMT)
- Hmm, I think in Miraak's case, it looks better in a separate section (which is how it's currently written) than in the main description, since he knows a lot more spells than Vahlok.
—<({Quill-Tail>> 21:27, 18 July 2013 (GMT)
Ok then. In the future I will remember that if an NPC knows lots of spells such as Miraak, the layout will be like the spells for Miraak. Dragon Guard (talk) 21:32, 18 July 2013 (GMT)
Does Malkoran ever speak his MaleWarlock voicetype?[edit]
Here's how it can be tested: Load Skyrim. Open the console and spawn Malkoran by typing this into the console: player. placeatme 0009cb66 1
Then type into the console: tgm
(Typing tgm makes you invincible) click on him with console and type: setav aggression 3
Then let him attack and see if he says any dialogue lines or any combat grunts. The reason I'm asking you to do this is because I am busy at the moment. Dragon Guard (talk) 17:44, 28 July 2013 (GMT)
- Spawned him, he attacked straight away. Tested it with three different characters. He won't say anything, even when calmed and talked to. I even tried casting Fear to see if he will say "I yield!" or similar, and nope, he won't speak. Before your request, I've also done The Break of Dawn (Meridia's quest involving him) a few times with different characters and Malkoran is completely silent in all of these playthroughs. —<({Quill-Tail>> 11:02, 29 July 2013 (GMT)
-
- What about Gauldur? Try the same with him. He uses the MaleWarlock voicetype. Dragon Guard (talk) 12:31, 29 July 2013 (GMT)
- Nope, won't speak at all. I also tested SR:Erj, SR:Krag, SR:Staubin, and SR:Stromm, who use the MaleWarlock voicetype too. None of them talked, even with Calm and Fear. Looks like this voicetype is an "empty" one with no lines recorded. —<({Quill-Tail>> 13:25, 29 July 2013 (GMT)

(←) I've extracted and converted all voice files for the MaleWarlock voicetype. It reveals that there are some empty files (FormID 0010c6be - 0010c6c8), which also have empty subtitles. However, there are some attacking (e.g. "The elements are mine to command!"), taunting (e.g. "Don't you see? I am master of the arcane!"), ect. lines recorded, as well as a lot of unused lines (e.g. "Fie. We beseech you. Darken this gem so that we may use its power to restore The Order of the Black Worm."). Neither Gauldur nor Malkoran talk during their respective quests, but some of Vaermina's Devotees have recorded lines ("We can't hold them back! Go! Get to the Barrier! Release the Miasma!"). Finally, there's no dialogue for yielding or getting calmed. -- SarthesArai Talk 15:35, 29 July 2013 (GMT)
- The Black Worm line is spoken by a Warlock in Hob's Fall Cave, I believe. Don't know if it's the same voicetype though. —Legoless (talk) 16:20, 29 July 2013 (GMT)
Edit summaries[edit]
Be careful when making edit summaries like this, as you might end up offending someone. It's really not that big a deal if someone doesn't indent their comments, so there's really no need to correct it in a discussion that brief. It also sounded a bit like you were chastising DragonGuard, so you should try to be careful about that too; he didn't really do anything wrong, so let's not do anything that might escalate the situation. Thanks! ThuumofReason (talk) 15:11, 3 August 2013 (GMT)

Anthony Skordi Skyrim[edit]
Almost two months ago, on Twitter, he confirmed he voiced Garyn Ienth in Dragonborn. This means he voiced the DLC2MaleDarkElfCommoner voicetype. But, there is a problem. Jeancey said that his Twitter account has not got a tick next to it. A tick means it is the the real person. I take Skordi's word that he voiced Garyn Ienth. Meanwhile, via IMDb, could you email him with a recorded clip of Lleril Morvayn speaking. This is because Garyn Ienth sounds exactly like Lleril Morvayn, but with a much deeper voice.
How to do the clip: Step 1: Spawn Lleril Morvayn. Step 2: Turn all sound down except Voice. Step 3: Engage dialogue with Lleril Morvayn and record him speaking for one minute. Step 4: Attach the clip in the email to Skordi.

Dialogue Conditions[edit]
Hey Quill-Tail! Just a tiny request about NPC dialogue; when you add it to articles, please make sure to include the “condition” (e.g. Leigelf will not talk about his dead wife unless she is dead, he will only talk about nightmares before Waking Nightmare), to ensure the dialogue is spot-on – and to prevent cleanup later. Thanks in advance! ☺ --Krusty (talk) 17:13, 2 September 2013 (GMT)

NPCs without hoods/helmets[edit]
I've seen you've added several images of NPCs without their hoods/helmets. We don't upload such images because you can't have them take it off without cheating (unless you are a master pickpocket I guess). Is it alright if I prod them? Perhaps you could start a discussion on it, I believe I've seen some similar off-topic discussion somewhere ~ Dwarfmp (talk) 06:41, 4 September 2013 (GMT)
-
- I did see a discussion somewhere (about Teldryn I think) but I can't find it... Anyway, the discussion went like this: Brelyna, Onmund, and Teldryn are followers you can exchange equipment with, so it is possible to see their faces at some point in normal gameplay when they equip helmets you give them. As they are not essential NPCs, you can also pickpocket their equipment with the Perfect Touch perk, which is normal gameplay as the perk is available to PC and console users without exploiting and such. Neither method requires console commands.
-
- The Ebony Warrior is a different circumstance, since he is not a follower and can't be pickpocketed due to his perk. —<({Quill-Tail>> 10:51, 4 September 2013 (GMT)

Olfina![edit]
Hey QT! I was just wondering - is there a reason you left the stub-tag on the article of Olfina Gray-Mane? It looks pretty finished to me, although I could be wrong? --Krusty (talk) 23:44, 24 November 2013 (GMT)
- Apologies for the late reply, I've removed the tag now. —<({Quill-Tail>> 14:59, 8 December 2013 (GMT)

NPCs?[edit]
Hey Quill-Tail! Great work with all the NPC pages! Just to satisfy my curiosity, do you check the dialogue and schedules in-game, or do they come from CK (or cslist) only? --Krusty (talk) 07:28, 5 February 2014 (GMT)
- Thanks! :) Mostly I get them from CSList, but I check them in-game when getting screenshots. —<({Quill-Tail>> 07:38, 5 February 2014 (GMT)
Fildgor Lore[edit]
Hello, The Silencer put up a redirect for speedy deletion (User:Quill-Tail/Lore:Fildgor), but it's under your user domain. I can't at first glance see any requests for its removal etc., so I'm asking here if this is ok, because I think the deletion would require the request from the user in this case ~ Dwarfmp (talk) 09:48, 24 June 2014 (GMT)
- It's a leftover redirect from a New Page Request. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 09:54, 24 June 2014 (GMT)
redundant links[edit]
Hiya, I've always been told that links shown in the header, don't count as redundant when linked in the main body of the text and when there are multiple sections it can be correct to show links in more than one section without it being classed as redundant. That's the way I've done hundreds of pages. Specifically on one occasion I removed two duplicates as a link appeared in header at the top of the page and then twice in different sections below, but got told that they weren't redundant. So now I'm confused. Biffa (talk) 02:05, 2 July 2014 (GMT)
- Well, as I understand it in relatively short articles just one link in the intro paragraph is fine, along with another one in the summary template. But if the article is long with many sections and paragraphs, it would be impractical to have to scroll to the top of the page for links, so one link per section is fine here. In this case I don't think the Skyrim:Pale Stormcloak Camp article is long enough to warrant placing a link per section, but if you disagree I'll leave the link as it is. —<({QT>> 10:19, 2 July 2014 (GMT)
-
- This is what I'm talking about the link in the intro paragraph, plus the same link in the body of the text doesn't count as redundant. Where I'm talking about additional links per section is multiple links in the body of the text in multiple sections or zones if it's complicated or long enough. It's not as if there's a glut of links that made reading the page awkward or more difficult.

- In addition can I ask why you've now started removing "—" from pages? I recently adopted using them when referring to see notes or see bugs in my updates as they kept being added when my updates were reviewed. So I now have a situation of other people adding them if I don't use "—" and you removing them if I do. Can I ask who's told you they should be removed and ask you stop removing them? Thanks in advance. Biffa (talk) 19:24, 3 July 2014 (GMT)

-
- Okay, I guess in that case adding another link for better accessibility doesn't do harm (especially for mobile readers). I removed the "—" because it's inconsistent with many other pages (you can search "see bugs" or "see notes"), and also redundant, as brackets already serve the function of separating the bug/note anchor from the main sentence. Someone else has removed it at least twice as well. Is there a reason they should be kept? —<({QT>> 20:07, 3 July 2014 (GMT)

- Yes as I stated, because when I don't use it, it's added. I understand your point about brackets serving a function, but disagree about inconsistency there are many more pages with some from of line "—" or -- or similar. The way I try and work is whenever I update a page I then monitor and review any changes to try and incorporate those changes into my style. I do this in order to reduce the amount of changes I'm causing others to make to my work, not for any egotistical reason, purely as I don't like creating work for others. If I see something once, then ok, but when I see things repeatedly being changed I try asking, like I have with yourself and/or make changes on the back of that. I do believe by having the line in front of the bracket it draws the readers eye more readily to the point and as it's either highlighting an issue or potential bug that has to be a good thing. If you look at my note page you'll see some of the coding I most commonly use, I've generally got all of these from other people as I knew nothing about wiki'ing before this site. Dumb question[edit]
What did you mean by full stop? Lorenut (talk) 17:03, 2 July 2014 (GMT)
- The British English word for the period. (.) I use British English in my writing, so I tend to use its terms as well. Sorry if it causes confusion xD —<({QT>> 17:09, 2 July 2014 (GMT)
Defunct Userpages[edit]
Just noticed a few defunct userpages that you might want dealt with (subpages link). You can move the Stormfist page to lore yourself now. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 19:07, 2 July 2014 (GMT)

Generic Dialogue Sandbox[edit]
Hey Quill-Tail! We were discussing creating an Oblivion:Rumors page here and the conversation eventually moved into a discussion about adding rumors and other generic dialogue for some of the other namespaces. As you could probably expect, your sandbox for generic dialogue in Skyrim came up and a few of us thought that the page already looked pretty good. So I'm curious if you think the page is complete/organized enough that it could be moved into the Skyrim namespace. The page looks like it has a good bit of the generic dialogue already, and moving it into the Skyrim namespace would make it more visible to other contributors, likely speeding up the process of completing it.
In regards to the sandbox, I noticed that you were questioning if the guards reacting to the player dropping a weapon and NPC's fighting over a dropped item actually occurred in-game. I can confirm that the guards reacting to the dropped item occurs in-game as it has happened to me on many occasions (I tend to drop a lot of junk out in the open in cities...). I recently verified the dialogue in-game and added it to the Guard Dialogue page since it seems like a better fit there. The only thing different I noticed from what you have is that the "What's the problem?" option didn't appear, the guard just immediately approached me and said the "You shouldn't leave weapons..." line. As for the other bit of dialogue, I believe I saw two bandits do it a very long time ago. They fought over some fur armor that was dropped if I remember it correctly. However, I don't really remember at all how the dialogue went or even what the dialogue was. So that may still require some more in-game verification, but I would guess that it does happen in-game.
Anyways, fell free to let me know what you think about launching the page into the Skyrim namespace whenever you get a chance. Thanks for doing all the hard work and research for the page as well! :) ~ Forfeit (talk) 23:35, 26 April 2015 (GMT)
- Two NPCs fighting over a dropped item does happen, annoyingly enough. —Legoless (talk) 01:42, 27 April 2015 (GMT)
- Not sure why I remembered this more than 5 years later, but I went ahead and published the page as Skyrim:Generic Dialogue. I figured it would be a good idea to do so before there was no one left on the site who would even remember the existence of this sandbox. We now have similar articles for Morrowind and Oblivion too. Again, really great work on this even if you didn't quite get to finish it. I wish you all the best! Forfeit (talk) 03:20, 30 May 2020 (UTC)
