Detailed Walkthrough[edit]

The Witchhunters[edit]

Asking around the village of Gah Sadrith, you may hear rumors about a couple of witchhunters inside of the Wetstone Tavern. Inside are the Dark Elves Eranil and Arelis Lloran. Depending on his disposition, Eranil may tell you about their inquisition to rid the town of Daedra worship. He believes that a few Altmer close to Mistress Eldale may be involved in a Daedric cult.

The Amulet[edit]

You won't find any evidence of the cult inside of Gah Sadrith itself. Instead, you should travel just east of the village where you will find a rowboat with a weird amulet inside. After taking it back to Eranil, he will tell you that the boat belonged to Fernil Yantus and instruct you to ask the merchants of town if they know anything about it.

After raising his disposition, the jeweler Cabrinth Dven will admit to selling the Weird Amulet without an enchantment to Gavisi Thelas. After confronting Gavisi and raising her disposition, she will break down and tell you that she was instructed to buy the amulet for Ilwen. She will also tell you about a time where she followed far behind Ilwen on the road from Port Telvannis to the Sadas Plantation when he suddenly disappeared. He later told her not to say a word about what she had seen and about the amulet deal. After this, you should report back to Eranil for what action you should take next. He will then tell you to confront Ilwen with Gavisi's testimony.

When confronting Ilwen, he will challenge you to come to the shrine of Mehrunes Dagon at Yashazmus to stop the sacrifice of Melie, the fiancee of Mjording, who was kidnapped by the pawn of the cult, Fernil Yantus. Ilwen will teleport away with magic and your journal will update instructing you to bring this news back to Eranil. Note that if you're already freed Melie, Ilwen will instead confront you about your involvement in freeing their sacrifice and attack you. He wields a rare daedric saber.

Upon returning to Eranil, you will be presented with the choice of allowing him and Arelis to travel to Yashazmus alone to deal with the cult, or you can insist on meeting them there. From here, a variety of ending can occur (See Quest Stages). If you've already killed the cultists at Yashamuz, Eranil will instead congratulate you on your success and reward you with both the Mirror Shield and Mace of Deep Crushing.

Yashazmus[edit]

To reach the ruins of Yashazmus, take a river strider from Gah Sadrith to Port Telvannis. From there, head west out of town towards the Sadas Plantation. The ruins will be splitting the road.

Be careful, there are fairly strong daedra guarding the inside and outside of the ruins. Once inside, head into the Shrine area of the ruins where you will be attacked by several members of the cult to Mehrunes Dagon. After dealing with them, head into the Pit of Sacrifice where you will find three more worshipers. A little further in is Ilwen who will start a brief conversation with you before attacking. Once he is dead, speak with Eranil or Arelis to finish the quest.

Index Finishes Quest Journal Entry
1 A famous witch-hunter, Arelis Lloran, is apparently staying in the Wetstone Tavern at Gah Sadrith.
2 Arelis Lloran, a famous witch-hunter, told me that he and his partner Eranil were staying in Gah Sadrith on a matter of inquisition.
3 Eranil told me that he and Arelis Lloran were investigating some of the Altmer companions and students of Mistress Eldale. They suspect that some of them may be involved in a Daedric cult. Should I find something unusual and suspicious, Eranil asked me to report it to him.
5 On the coast of Hlavan Isle, east of Gah Sadrith, I found a small rowboat. There was a strange magical amulet inside. I should investigate further about the nature of this amulet.
10 I spoke with the witchhunter Eranil in the Wetstone Tavern about the weird amulet I found inside a boat on the coast east of Gah Sadrith. Eranil confirmed that the boat belonged to local commoner Fernil Yantus. He also told me there is a dangerous cult of Mehrunes Dagon worshippers in the Telvanni Isles, and this amulet carries their signature enchantment. I should ask local merchants about the possible origins of this amulet, as it is unlikely that Fernil would be able to craft it himself.
20 I have found out that the amulet was sold by Cabrinth Dven to Gavisi Thelas.
30 Gavisi Thelas broke and told me it was Ilwen who forced her to buy that amulet for him. She also told me of Ilwen's strange actions on the road from Port Telvannis to the Sadas Plantation. I should report to Eranil now and ask him what to do next.
40 Eranil believes now is the right time to question Ilwen and find out whether he is involved in kidnapping Melie or in daedra worship. I should confront Ilwen with Gavisi Thelas' testimony, without raising his suspicion too much.
50 As I confronted Ilwen with Gavisi Thelas' testimony, he escaped with teleportation magic. He challenged me to come to Yashazmus and attempt to stop the sacrifice of Melie, fiancee of Mjording, who was kidnapped by Fernil Yantus, pawn of the cult. I should inform Eranil.
60 Eranil rewarded me for proving Ilwen's involvement in Daedra worhsip and revealing the location of the cultists' base. He and Arelis Lloran will have to cleanse the ruin of Yashazmus. I may join them to help stop Ilwen, and save Melie if she is still alive.
65 Eranil rewarded me for proving Ilwen's involvement in Daedra worhsip and revealing the location of the cultists' base. He and Arelis Lloran will have to cleanse the ruin of Yashazmus. Eranil insisted that I not try to join them on their mission, as my skills are not suited to such a dangerous enterprise. They promised they would also attempt to save Mjording's fiancee Melie from the cultists, if she is still alive.
70 I have found Eranil and Arelis Lloran deep in Yashazmus. They have joined me, but it seems some evil magic has been activated to prevent us from escaping, or anybody else from getting in. We must stop the ritual sacrifice before it is too late.
80 Finishes quest☑ Ilwen is dead and the cult of Mehrunes Dagon in the Telvanni Isles has been crushed. Eranil thanked me for helping them stop the cult and rewarded me for my aid.
85 Finishes quest☑ Ilwen is dead and the cult of Mehrunes Dagon in the Telvanni Isles has been crushed. Arelis Lloran thanked me for helping them stop the cult, and said he would inform Temple authorities of my help.
90 Finishes quest☑ After killing the leader of Mehrunes Dagon's cult, Ilwen, I left Yashazmus. His cult will do no more harm.
95 Finishes quest☑ It's been several days since Eranil and Arelis Loran went to wipe out the cult of Mehrunes Dagon in Yashazmus, and Mjording went there in order to save Melie. The ruin should be probably cleansed of evil now. I could check whether Mjording did find her. If so, I may meet them at the Gah Sadrith market. As for the inquisitors, they are probably not coming back.
100 Finishes quest☑ It's been several days since Eranil and Arelis Loran went to wipe out the cult of Mehrunes Dagon in Yashazmus. Assuming they were successful, the ruin should probably be cleansed and Melie back at the market in Gah Sadrith, where Mjording awaits her. The inquisitors, if they survived, will no doubt have left for their next mission. I guess my part in this is finished.
105 Finishes quest☑ It's been several days since Eranil and Arelis Loran went to Yashazmus to wipe out the cult of Mehrunes Dagon. Alive or not, the inquisitors are probably not coming back to Gah Sadrith, as their part in this game is finished. And so is mine.
110 When I confronted Ilwen about his involvement in the Mehrunes Dagon cult, he saw a chance to avenge the ruined sacrifice, and attacked me.
120 Finishes quest☑ I told Eranil about Ilwen's reaction; however, Eranil was furious that I fled from the house and left Ilwen, now aware of the inquisition being after him, free to escape. Eranil gave me some potions of his own making for my part in the investigation, but told me that he and Arelis Lloran had no more time and must go after Ilwen. I guess I really can do nothing more.
130 Finishes quest☑ I have reported to Eranil that I have slayed Ilwen, after the latter admitted to worshiping Mehrunes Dagon and attacked me. Eranil was a bit disappointed that he could not interrogate Ilwen himself, but content with the evidence I had already collected about the Yashazmus cult. Exterminating the rest of them will be routine, so Eranil thanked me and rewarded me with some enchanted items. I have done all I could to destroy the cult.
