Eranil in the Wetstone Tavern

Eranil is a Dark Elf witchhunter who is staying at the Wetstone Tavern in Gah Sadrith while conducting an inquisition with his partner, Arelis Lloran. The pair suspect that some of the High Elf companions and students of Mistress Eldale might be involved in a Daedric cult. They are eager for any information on the subject that you might be able to find.

He wears a common shirt with matching pants and shoes, plus an expensive ring. He carries 10 gold and 20 leveled gold.

Aside from his natural resistance to fire and the sanctuary provided by his ancestors, he knows the following spells: Absorb Fatigue (Ranged), Absorb Health (Ranged), and Absorb Magicka (Ranged).

Miscellaneous[edit]

Dialogue[edit]

  • Gah Sadrith:
"Truly dangerous places, these Telvanni towers. Ideal for evil Daedra summonings and ominous experiments. I sense a lot of evil in motion around here."
  • latest rumors:
"Mistress Eldale is well known for her successes in the field of conjuration. While the highest among the Telvanni are entrusted to keep such powers, some around her might be tempted to exploit them unwisely. That is why we are here. That so many Altmer come to learn from her may be a testament to her powers... or to their belief that necromancy is better tolerated among the Telvanni than on Summerset Isle. I wouldn't be surprised if a practitioner were to be found within Mistress Eldale's inner circle."
  • someone in particular:
"I keep my eye on all the Telvanni. Especially Lloryn Llaram. Or Ilwen. They seem the sort to involve themselves in unlawful sorcery. Belas Kasihan is kept occupied by her business, so I will leave her out of my inquiries. Some other sevants of Eldale, like Ultern, also possess magical powers sufficient to cause concern."

Gah Sadrith Inquisition[edit]

"You say you found that amulet in his boat? If he is somehow involved with the Mehrunes Dagon cult, he must be taking commands from somebody here in Gah Sadrith. I do not believe he would be able to plan all this alone. If we are to get to the bottom of this, you will have to find his master here. I have certain... suspicions, but the inquisition cannot begin without proof. You should start by asking around about the amulet."
"It is now clear that Fernil was only a pawn in the Mehrunes Dagon cult. And as a pawn he will be sacrificed when the time comes. Fools who join Daedric cults deserve no better fate."

If Fernil Yantus is dead:

"You say he was involved in the kidnapping of that Breton woman? I guess you don't have any proof of your claim, do you?" (Disposition down by 5)

If you confronted and killed Fernil Yantus:

"You say he was responsible for the kidnapping of that Breton woman? Was he also member of the Yashazmus cult? Did the girl actually confirm that she was kidnapped by him? No?! Then you shouldn't have confronted, much less killed him! I could have interrogated him more carefully!"

If you found the Weird Amulet then killed Fernil Yantus:

"You say he was responsible for kidnapping the Breton woman? The amulet in his boat does suggest as much. You didn't have to kill him, though! He might have been an ideal source of information. Next time, leave the confrontation of suspects to us professionals."
  • inquisition:
"What did Arelis tell you? Don't concern yourself with it, whatever he said."
"I am not sure whether I should trust you with that. Better go about your business."

If Disposition is 60 or higher:

"I and Arelis came here because we suspect some of the Altmer surrounding Mistress Eldale might be involved in foul worship. However, we have no evidence against anybody so far. Should you find anything suspect, bring it to us."
"If you want to help us, keep an eye out for any unusual items. 'Unusual'... There must be plenty of unusual items in Gah Sadrith, given Mistress Eldale's interests. You may find something that strikes you as very unusual. If you do, come to us. The warlocks we are seeking may become uncautious and get fooled into thinking their activities are covered by Mistress Eldale, but sooner or later, they will commit a mistake."

If you have the Weird Amulet:

"Excuse me friend, but what is that weird amulet you have there?"
"That weird amulet you have shown me might serve as evidence against the person we are looking for. I am sure they are on this island. If one were set to perform 'unorthodox' magicks, there would be no better place than Gah Sadrith, and no better patron than Mistress Eldale. You have to find out where it comes from."
"Before we can proceed, I need you to confront Ilwen with the evidence you have gathered against him. If he lets anything slip, come to me and we will move against him."
"Ilwen escaped? He won't get far! Now we know of his plans. From what he said, I conclude all the cultists will gather to sacrifice that woman you are looking for. We must act quickly. The Daedric ruin of Yashazmus is on the road from Port Telvannis to the Sadas Plantation. We will meet you there, but do not take too long. If you do not show up in two days we will get this done without you." (Disposition up by 50)

If your Reputation is less than 25:

"Ilwen escaped? He won't get far! Now we know of his plans. From what he said, I conclude all the cultists will gather to sacrifice that woman you are looking for. We must act quickly. However, I do not think you will be able to help us further. This is to be a highly dangerous mission, and I would not wish to see you endangered. Better that you wait here, and let us do the work."
  • No, I will go with you.: "Hmm. I feel this is a foolish choice. Nevertheless, it is yours to make. The Daedric ruin of Yashazmus is on the road from Port Telvannis to the Sadas Plantation. We will surprise them unprepared and all at once. This is our final chance! I will start the preparations right now. We will meet you at Yashazmus if you haven't changed your mind. Otherwise, we should be back within two days."
"We need no more evidence to act. I and Arelis will prepare to cleanse Yashazmus, while all the cultists are gathered there for the ritual. You can come along, but this will not be an easy fight."
  • That is a wise idea. I shall await news of your victory!: "A wise decision. If we are successful, we will return here in two days' time." (Disposition up by 50)
"We need no more evidence to act. I and Arelis will prepare to cleanse Yashazmus, while all the cultists are gathered there for their ritual."
"The inquisition is over. Now we need to get prepared for the execution."

If you let Ilwen go:

"Ilwen confessed to be a daedra worshipper and you just let him go? It is my fault. If I had known he would confess so quickly, I would have sent Arelis with you. I can't really blame you for not daring to face a dangerous warlock in combat: that is our work. I am afraid he already knew of our inquisition, and has already made good his escape. You do deserve a reward for finding evidence of his guilt and spoiling his plans by saving the girl."
  • Continue: "Here, take these potions of my own making as a reward. They have been made after a sacred recipe of the Necrom priests, which is known only to those who devote their lives to fighting the enemies of Almsivi. May they strengthen your courage against the heathens. As for Ilwen, Arelis and I will go after him at once. You can do nothing more for us, but now that we have chased this evil out of its hiding place, we have a hope of finding it again." Goodbye (Disposition up by 15, and you receive 3 Sacred Oil)
"Let's hope Ilwen will not get too far."

If you killed Ilwen when he confessed:

"Ilwen confessed to be a daedra worshipper and you had to kill him? Well, you did what you had to do. I must admit I wanted to interrogate him myself, but it was my fault I didn't come with you in the first place. Alas! You were brave to face such a dangerous warlock and stop a sacrificial rite all on your own. Any remnants of their cult will not survive for much longer."
  • Continue: "There is nothing more for us to do here--not with such brave and zealous warriors as you around. Take this enchanted weapon of mine and be sure I will inform my superiors of your great devotion to Almsivi." (Disposition up by 25, and you receive a Mirror Shield and a Mace of Deep Crushing)
"You did almost all of our job yourself. There is no more need for us to be here."
  • weird amulet:
"Wait. I know this enchantment. It is used by a Mehrunes Dagon cult that has set up in the Telvanni Isles. You say it was inside a boat on a coast west from here? It belongs to Fernil Yantus indeed! He must have received it from some superior magician and lost it there. What a fortunate turn of events for us. Now you must find out where this amulet comes from. Ask local merchants. Someone may recognize it."
"You need to find out where this amulet came from. Ask local merchants. They may not be too willing to reveal their customers, but mention my name, and if you're persuasive enough they will open up."
"Gavisi Thelas bought this amulet. But it was without an enchantment? I am more interested in the source of the enchantment, as it must have been put there by the man we seek. Without the enchantment the amulet itself is just a pretty trinket. Go, and persuade Gavisi to tell you more."
"Gavisi Thelas says Ilwen had her buy it for him? Things are falling into place. Go and confront Ilwen with what you have just heard. I do not want to scare him into a safe retreat by interrogating him myself right away. If he divulges anything to you, we can then accuse him of witchcraft."
"Go, %PCName. Confront Ilwen and see what he has to say about all this. Do not let on that you are working with us! Once you have done this, come back to me. Once we have enough evidence to set on our inquisition, I will interrogate him officially myself."
"Have you confronted Ilwen? Have you got any new information to help in our inquisition?"
"You may dispose of the amulet yourself if you wish. The inquisition requires it no longer."
