Skyrim talk:Coated in Blood
What are you saying here?[edit]
I don't understand this note. Are you saying:
- He doesn't make you blood-kin despite saying he did?
- He does make you blood-kin but the orcs still won't let you in?
- Some different outcome if you have the Forgemaster's Fingers quest?
For the record he never even offered to make me bloodkin after doing this. — Unsigned comment by Themendios (talk • contribs) at 02:48 on 23 December 2011 (GMT)
- It stands as it's said. He doesn't actually make you bloodkin despite saying it.

- This is of some note, as it also makes you "Bloodkin" with the orcs, allowing free access to the orc strongholds without having to complete The Forgemaster's Fingers quest, or be an orc. A more expensive, but potentially quicker method.
- I removed the above, as testing on the 360 shows this to not be the case. I got the Daedra Heart, then took it to Moth, and while I received an armor piece, travel to Narzulbur and attempting to enter caused the gate guard to inform me that I was not Blood-Kin. - it happened to me, he made me blood kin. I had gone to a orcs fortress and been told to get the fingers first though. He actually tells you he makes you blood kin too. (Eddie The Head 14:24, 22 December 2011 (UTC))

- Paraphrasing comments as I see them:
- he makes you blood-kin which [does what bloodkin does]
- (assumes comment 1 means 'automatically') and says this is not true (because it's not automatic with the quest)
- no, he does make you blood-kin, and he tells you that. unrelated note - i had already gotten the fingers quest

- How did you extrapolate 'if he makes you blood kin, the orcs ignore that' from this conversation?
- To me there are no conclusions to be drawn from this. -Themendios 03:12, 23 December 2011 (UTC)
- I wouldn't write anything down I haven't seen in game myself. It's no substitute for Forgemaster's Fingers. Some people think it is--LosTheFail 03:23, 23 December 2011 (UTC)
- You can ask any (non-stronghold) orc to make you blood-kin, if they have a high enough disposition towards you they will do so, if not they will make some noise about not just anyone. I guess that's why I'm confused there's a note here in this quest about it, the only way this quest is related to bloodkin at all is that doing it raises one particular orc's disposition, which could possibly make him say yes.
- I would also be dubious that if he agrees to make you bloodkin that it doesn't work as that would pretty much mean any orc who says they will make you bloodkin doesn't work either. But that is entirely possibly given some of the other bugs, but again it has nothing to do with this quest-Themendios 03:31, 23 December 2011 (UTC)
- I think in all honesty it boils down to 'the last sentence of the detailed walkthrough shoudln't be there' - he didn't say jack about bloodkin when i did it and additionally refused to make me one when I asked after.
- I forgot this was the themendios website and we only do things he wants and his playthrough is the definite version. My apologies, kind sir. It is plainly verified through other eyes he does mention it. But it doesn't have the same effect as people think. Would you rather it be under bugs then? Go for it. --LosTheFail 03:46, 23 December 2011 (UTC)

(←) My playthrough was only mentioned to reinforce the idea that 2 separate things (all orcs' bloodkin dialog option & this quest) are being confused for one thing. I don't care if I'm wrong, I just think conclusions were drawn on shaky grounds and do not directly contradict that idea. It is a minor thing in the scope of the site I suppose but when challenged on my reasoning I am prepared to write essays on the smallest of points. ;) --Themendios 05:05, 23 December 2011 (UTC)
- If there's a dispute over content you mention it on the talk pages and people discuss it. You are not the sole judge on what does or does not happen. Not everyone sees everything. Removing things immediately with snide comments leads to this. --LosTheFail 05:40, 23 December 2011 (UTC)

- As an aside, I did several book quests for the orc in the mage library and he made me bloodkin and I did not have to do the forgemaster fingers quest to access the stronghold. Dragonalumni 12:56, 28 December 2011 (UTC)

- I figure I'll clarify this. I wanted access to an Orc Stronghold, so I got a Daedra Heart and took it to Moth. He never said anything about being made Blood-Kin, and asking about it got me the standard 'We can't make just anyone Blood-Kin' nonsense. To further confirm, I went to an Orc Stronghold, where I was told that I was not Blood-Kin. It may be worth noting that I had no interactions in the city of Markarth in general, so it may be that the quest on it's own isn't enough to get him to like you enough to make you Blood-Kin. This may also have been fixed by a patch between when I originally made the note and now. Swk3000 00:27, 10 July 2012 (UTC)

Random Armor Reward[edit]
(Tested using a level 76 character) With my high level character, the quest reward was always an Ebony or Glass armor piece (helmet, shield, or chest piece only--no gauntlets or boots). Nothing of lower quality, but no Daedric or Dragon armors either. Also, the reward was determined upon quest completion (which means you can reload until you get the armor piece you want). Unfortunately, I have no idea when certain levels trigger, but the reward might be based on the same lists as Jarl Igmund's dungeon delving quest to find Hrolfdir's Shield, as seen here. Maybe someone on a PC can verify? (PS3 user) MrC (talk) 22:09, 26 February 2016 (UTC)
- The armor reward is indeed leveled, as mentioned on the article. Zul do onikaanLaan tinvaak 11:21, 27 February 2016 (UTC)
