Welcome + bit of advice[edit]
Hello and welcome to UESPWiki! Thanks for your interest in the wiki; however, you seem to have been making multiple edits to a page by not using the show preview button, clogging up the Recent Changes in the process. We appreciate your enthusiasm, but keep in mind that each edit needs to be patrolled, so multiple consecutive edits create an unnecessary hassle on those who patrol. So please utilize this feature! You may also want to look over our style guide and Getting Started guide. Feel free to ask if you have any questions. --Krusty 01:01, 30 November 2011 (UTC)
Just incrementally updating the list of essential NPCs since I intend to mod them. Only way I know how other than keeping a million tabs open, sorry for any inconvenience but I think it's adding a lot --tm
Stubs[edit]
Hello again. Please do not remove stub-tags from nearly empty NPC pages. If there's more info to add (background story, quest info, inventory and so on), the article is still a stub. Also, only add essential/respawn-info if the answer is yes. When it is 'no' it is standard procedure not to mention it. --Krusty 00:21, 10 December 2011 (UTC)
uint8[edit]
Your decision to change the file format conventions in regards to int8/uint8. How are you going to complain about ulong, then go on and directly change int8/uint8? This is inconsistent, and int8/uint8 are fine. —Rick
- lol that's fair, i debated on doing that i will concede that int8/uint8 are consistent. —Themendios 20:31, 17 December 2011 (UTC)
string table file format[edit]
Most of your changes to the String Table File Format page was unnecessary. Your speculation about encoding should not be on the article page. There is no need for that description of the format given the technical specification which has no unknowns in it.
A technical explanation about how the game decides to load the string tables is fine, but what you wrote there is incorrect. —Rick 20:31, 17 December 2011 (UTC)
- Unnecessary/wrong how? I expounded on what was there and wrote out detailed explanations of everything. Granted there may be more detail than necessary but trim it down if you think so don't just trash it.—Themendios 20:34, 17 December 2011 (UTC)
- You might want to discuss something first, before radically changing it. I for one had a problem understanding what "struct (*stringCount)" is supposed to mean - what struct? Whereas "Directory Entry[count]" clearly tells me what datatype is involved and the number of entries is clearer to me (granted, I'm used to C-like languages). Also I see no value in just renaming all the variables. I tried to merge the explanations with the old specification, but currently can't assess whether the explanations are correct or not. --Alfwyn 21:12, 17 December 2011 (UTC)
- I didn't radically change anything, I added an offset column and changed the name 'Directory Entry' to 'String Entry' because it seemed clearer as to what it is. I also added some plain-text explanations in front of each section. Struct is defined on the datatypes page that's why i used it, the notes say/link what struct it is. I am most comfortable in ISO C so I'm not understanding your confusion.
- Like I said on the talk page I'll just stay out of the mod area since it seems like it's just the way the main contributors like it so I'm not gonna fight that battle. I think the format in general can use some slight expansion/cleanup/clarification and some plain-text blurbs explaining things because not all of us have been modding TES since 2008 but obviously I am alone on this. —Themendios 21:21, 17 December 2011 (UTC)
Advice[edit]
A common thing to think about is BRD (Bold Revert Discuss). If someone reverts your edit, then discuss it. Don't make snide remarks about the editor or how much time you spent on the edit, because those don't really matter. Find common ground between the old version and the new version, and reach a consensus.
The table isn't the first time you have been causing trouble. The comment made here was really unnecessary, and many of your edit summaries have been disparaging of other editors. If you disagree with someone, then talk to them about it. elliot (talk) 21:15, 17 December 2011 (UTC)
- I have no problem with reaching a consensus. My problem is when I put the effort in to do a large scale cleanup/change and it's reverted with little/no comment instead of being edited itself. If it's just totally baseless for me to have done it then that's different. Disparaging is relative, though yea that comment was unnecessary, i was annoyed sorry Krusty ;) — Themendios 21:24, 17 December 2011 (UTC)
- I have put a lot of time into a lot of edits, just to see them reverted right after. It's no big deal; your edits are still in the history. If consensus is agreed upon for your version, then it's settled. But the side comments aren't really helping your cause at all. elliot (talk)
- Don’t worry about the comment at all; in these troubled Skyrim-times we are bound to run into each other every now and then – and it can sometimes be annoying when people start to edit something that is a work in progress. It’s unavoidable though. Keep up the good work – and nice job on the Werewolf article! ☺--Krusty 21:43, 17 December 2011 (UTC)

Email?[edit]
I was thinking of emailing you some information you'll probably find very useful with all the work you've been doing on file formats, but noticed you don't have an email address set up. If you want to email me at nephele at skyhighway dot com, then I could send you the information. --NepheleTalk 03:57, 25 December 2011 (UTC)
