Dratha was a Telvanni Councilor who lived in her mushroom tower of Tel Mora in Vvardenfell. She had a very palpable distaste for men, and by 3E 427, had populated her tower solely with women. According to Master Aryon she was the oldest living Telvanni Councilor by that time and was sustained by necromantic arts.[1]

History[edit]

Second Era[edit]

Sometime in 2E 582, Dratha had a vision on her deathbed of the return of Dagoth Ur and his Sixth House, as well as the rise of the Nerevarine. House Hlaalu was funding Savarak Fels and his Black Snail Mercenaries to kill Dratha, so that he could take over ownership of the tower. Fels plotted to poison Tel Mora so that it would release toxic spores, The Great Houses' council approved of the temporary leadership of Savarak, and Tel Mora's denizens would be harassed by his henchmen. An adventurer caught wind of the plot, and aided Mistress Dratha by administering an antidote to her tower and slaying Savarak.[2]

Dratha then sought to make a deal with a Dremora named Xykenaz to prolong her life. To accomplish this, she sought the Stones of Cold Fire scattered across various Daedric Ruins associated with Molag Bal. The terms of her Daedric contract stated that Xykenaz would return in the guise of a mortal man to claim her soul.[3] Dratha would later come to hate men.

Later that year, Dratha aided the Ashlander Hanu of the Zainab Tribe who sought to free her father's spirit from the Hunting Grounds. To aid Hanu, Dratha determined the next location of the Great Hunt by dissecting the stomach of a fresh wolf corpse, giving Hanu the opportunity to reclaim her father's soul from Hircine.[4]

Third Era[edit]

By the Third Era, due to Dratha's paranoia of men, all Tel Mora's residents had to be female to ensure she would survive for the return of the Nerevarine. Males were allowed to shop in the market and use services at nearby Vos, but had to stay well clear of the tower itself. Female visitors, however, found a warm welcome in Tel Mora.

Reports of the Nerevarine's gender are conflicted.[nb 1] Some sources state that the Nerevarine was male, and was forced to hurl themselves at Dratha's feet and plead for a hearing to become Telvanni Hortator, while other sources state that the Nerevarine was female and Dratha approved her taking the position without hesitation.[5]

That same year, Dratha came to covet a vial of Quarra vampire blood.[6] The vampire patriarch Raxle Berne also sought the vial.[7][6] The vial was safeguarded by the Quarra Clan's matriarch, Volrina Quarra, who kept it locked in her room within the clan's fortress of Druscashti. According to some sources, Volrina was slain during an attempt to retrieve the potion, devastating the Quarra Clan. It is unknown which of the two obtained the vial.

Notes[edit]

  • ^  * In Skyrim, Neloth refers to the Nerevarine as a male with the line: "You are too young to remember the Nerevarine. He defeated Dagoth Ur and saved us all from the blight."
