Detailed Walkthrough[edit]
After completing Ghost in the Cemetery, you'll have to choose what to do with Olivia Valerius's spirit - bind her to Elendar so he can take her back to Summerset Isle, or put her to rest entirely. This quest involves the latter choice.
If you decide to blame Elendar for poisoning Olivia, Manius Valerius will become enraged, rush to Elendar's house and kill him. Olivia, naturally, is distraught, but you can talk to Dagail to find a way to put her to rest. As it turns out, the method is simple: put her spirit ring in her sarcophagus (Note: If, for some reason, you try to loot her sarcophagus later, you'll be cursed.) This, however, doesn't do the trick - she's seriously angry about Elendar's death, but Dagail says there's also some other force behind her, preventing her from moving on. She'll send you to Alberic Litte, the Mages Guild's expert on daedric forces.
Alberic thinks there's a powerful daedra involved, and suggests talking to Manius, who will tell you that she used to visit Nocturnal's shrine with her mother when she was a child. Return to Alberic with this information, and he'll send you in search of a book currently possess by Countess Valga. She'll be happy to hand it over, but using the book also requires possession of the Skeleton Key, so you'll have to do Nocturnal's quest if you haven't already. Once you have the key, read the book and you'll be sent to Nocturnal's realm (or a part of it), where you'll speak to the Daedric prince herself. She's willing to take Olivia's spirit, but she wants the Key in return. If you hand it over, she'll give you the Night Wrath spell (Calm up to L100 on target for 25 secs) and the Skeleton Key spell (unlocks any lock) and send you back. Talk to Olivia, and she'll happily agree; you'll get a journal entry prompting you to tell Manius the good news, whereupon he'll give you some gold and the quest will end.
If you decide to keep it, Nocturnal will be angry and kick you out; Olivia's spirit will then go crazy and start rampaging around the city. You'll still get the spell Night Wrath, but now you'll have to deal with Olivia's ghost (and the spell won't work on her). No matter who kills her (you or the guards), you'll get the next journal entry; Manius will be understandably angry, and you'll lose reputation with the people.
Journal Entries[edit]
Peace for Olivia (BANLeyawiinGhostFinalB) | ||
---|---|---|
Stage | Finishes Quest | Journal Entry |
5 | Manius Valerius rushed to Elendar, the keeper of the cemetery in Leyawiin, sword in hand and anger in his heart. | |
10 | Manius Valerius killed Elendar, revenge is his. Now we must give peace to Olivia's spirit. I should seek advice from Dagail. | |
15 | I need to get the key to Olivia's mausoleum from Manius Valerius, and place Olivia's Spirit Ring in her sarcophagus. Dagail is sure that this will allow Olivia's spirit to rest. | |
20 | I have the key to the mausoleum. I must put the ring in the sarcophagus. | |
25 | Olivia's Spirit Ring is in the sarcophagus. If Olivia's spirit no longer appears at night, then everything worked out. I should visit the cemetery after midnight to see whether Olivia's spirit will appear or not. | |

30 | Unfortunately, Olivia Valerius's spirit doesn't want to leave at all. The spirit is angry and thirsts for revenge over the death of Elendar. I must do something, before the spirit takes action. I hope Dagail won't find me too annoying and will agree to give one more piece of advice. | |
35 | This is the first time I have seen Dagail at a loss. According to her, the spirit is guided by someone's mighty will, preventing Olivia from finding peace, and filling her spirit with unusual desires and incomprehensible strength. Meanwhile, the cemetery is becoming unsafe. Dagail advises I turn to Alberic Litte in the Chorrol Mages Guild. | |
40 | Alberic Litte believes that Olivia is controlled by one of the powerful Daedra. Most likely, Olivia has approached him or her before and is now dependent on the Daedric Prince. It remains to be determined which exactly. Maybe Manius Valerius knows something? | |
45 | Manius is very angry that his wife's spirit has not yet been put to rest, but said that in childhood and adolescence, Olivia visited the Nocturnal Shrine. I need to tell Alberic Litte about this. | |
50 | Alberic Litte remembered a book, which contains references to the Nocturnal cult that should help us. The book is named "The Path of the Ancestor Crow". This book is now in the possession of Countess Arriana Valga, in Chorrol. | |
55 | I have "The Path of the Ancestor Crow". But in order to read the book, I need the Skeleton Key which I was given by Nocturnal, the Lady of the Night. (If the player has done the Nocturnal shrine quest.) I have "The Path of the Ancestor Crow". But in order to read the book, I need the Skeleton Key. Only Nocturnal, the Lady of the Night, can bestow it on me, so now I must seek her out. (If the player hasn't done the Nocturnal shrine quest.) |
|
70 | I have the Skeleton Key, now I should read "The Path of the Ancestor Crow". | |
72 | ||
75 | The book transported me to the Crypt of the Raven, where the Lady of the Night spoke with me. Nocturnal remembered Olivia Valerius, who brought her gifts in childhood and adolescence. If Olivia agrees, Nocturnal will accept her in the Evergloam as her servant. If Olivia rejects Nocturnal's offer, then I will need to use the "Night Wrath" spell to destroy Olivia's spirit. | |
80 | Olivia's spirit agreed to Nocturnal's proposal and Nocturnal took her to Evergloam. I must inform Manius Valerius that his wife will now serve the Lady of the Twilight. | |

85 | The book transported me to the Crypt of the Raven, where the Lady of the Night spoke with me. Nocturnal offered me a choice. Give up the Skeleton Key or keep it for myself. It is my key! Nocturnal banished me from her plane and cursed me. Olivia's spirit has become aggressive and uncontrollable and attacks the inhabitants of Leyawiin. | |
90 | Olivia Valerius's spirit clung to its pseudo-existence to the last, and I had to destroy it. I must tell Manius Valerius. | |
95 | Olivia Valerius's aggressive spirit has been destroyed. I have to tell Manius Valerius about this. | |
100 | Manius Valerius is glad that his wife no longer bothers the townspeople in the form of an angry spirit. He managed to thank me sparingly, but he doesn't want to talk to me anymore. Well, it's done. Olivia's spirit is where it should be. Nocturnal rewarded me in her own way. | |
120 | I was unable to calm Olivia's spirit. The spirit turned aggressive and began to attack the townspeople. As a result, the spirit was destroyed by the guards of Leyawiin, and the curse of Nocturnal and the contempt of the Valerius family hang on me. I'm afraid this won't raise my reputation in Leyawiin. |
- Notes
- Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
- Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in random order.
- If an entry is marked as "Finishes Quest" it means the quest disappears from the Active Quest list, but you may still receive new entries for that quest.
- It is possible to use the console to advance through the quest by entering
setstage BANLeyawiinGhostFinalB stage
, wherestage
is the number of the stage you wish to complete. It is not possible to un-complete (i.e. go back) quest stages. See SetStage for more information.
