Front/Back Images[edit]

Good evening! Thank you so much for helping us with the upkeep of Collections pages! I haven't had much time to devote to it lately, and I really appreciate that there are people willing to keep up with screenshotting mounts and stuff.

When you take shots of skins and costumes, would you mind uploading them as single shots instead of front-and-back doubles? I encourage you to keep documenting the front, back and side of full-body costumes and skins, but putting the front and back view together in one image is inconsistent with the way we document those collectibles. The only things we document with single images that contain the front, back, and side of a thing mashed into one image are armor styles. Costumes and skins just require the front for display on the costume/skin hub pages, but I've been documenting different views of skins by providing separate images of each different view: you can see an example of that with The Taskmaster's Banner.

Thanks again for your continued work on the Collections pages! -MolagBallet (talk) 03:14, 4 September 2023 (UTC)

If that's what you want, I'll do it like that. I get the desire for consistency. Although, I still think it's much more convenient for both the viewer and the editor to have it all in one image. Kallykat (talk) 13:56, 4 September 2023 (UTC)
There is some benefit to have multiple angles in one image. My suggestion would be to keep a front-facing only image as the main one, and then combine a side-view and back-view shot of the outfit in a second image for the gallery. The Rim of the Sky (talk) 23:01, 4 September 2023 (UTC)
That sounds like a fair compromise. I'll try to remember to have a front shot and a combo shot from now on. Kallykat (talk) 12:31, 9 September 2023 (UTC)
Sounds good! And thank you for getting images of so all these collectibles, you're doing a great job! The Rim of the Sky (talk) 18:20, 9 September 2023 (UTC)

ESO Log Data Viewer[edit]

Good morning! I remembered that you've created some Collectibles pages (namely mounts), and I wanted to inform you of a useful database of ours where you can find a collectible's ID and default name: the ESO Log Data Viewer. It's got pretty much everything we need for the Collections template except for stuff like price, source, and stuff that's set to change by the whims of whoever swaps out Crown Store merchandise on the devs' end. I use this all the time while putting new mounts and pets on those aggregate list pages, but it's also useful for adding Quest Stages to quest pages. When HoodBot creates pages for all the mined collectibles from a recent update, this is where it pulls the information from to fill the templates.

I wasn't sure if anybody has told you about it yet, and wanted to make sure you have it in your arsenal! -MolagBallet (talk) 17:39, 16 September 2023 (UTC)

Ah, so that's where you find ID numbers! No, I wasn't aware. Thanks for sharing this info! Kallykat (talk) 19:28, 16 September 2023 (UTC)
Any time! -MolagBallet (talk) 23:35, 16 September 2023 (UTC)

Screenshots Without UI[edit]

Hi! I'm really glad you're helping out with enemy screenshots! We could always use more photographers for the abundant and "mundane" elements of ESO.

I wanted to let you know that you can completely axe pesky UI elements like the health bar on File:ON-npc-Goblin Ironskin.jpg with the Screenshot Helper add-on from ESOUI. Whenever you toggle your UI off with Screenshot Helper, it eliminates nameplates in their entirety until you turn the UI back on. That's how I get clean shots without finagling the angle to try and hide the health bars.

I believe there's also an option to turn off enemy health bars in the settings under nameplates if you don't want to download any add-ons, but Friendly NPCs, quest markers, and a few other elements were a problem for me without Screenshot Helper.

Thanks for helping out with NPCS! -MolagBallet (talk) 18:52, 5 December 2023 (UTC)

Okay, it took me a while to pull the trigger on this one. I've never actually used add-ons before. I finally bit the bullet and started installing a few highly recommended ones, including Screenshot Helper. I'm looking forward to trying it out. Thanks for the advice! New Collectible Pages[edit]

I see your efforts, and they're appreciated! I have one request as a patroller: would you mind holding off on the creation of these new Collectible pages until their data can be retrieved from ESOlog? It's a lot easier to let HoodBot handle the creation of these pages and fill in the blanks afterwards. -MolagBallet (talk) 22:58, 5 February 2024 (UTC)

I have some questions about this if you wouldn't mind clarifying. How often does HoodBot create new pages? The items for Gold Road and Update 42 were datamined months ago. Items like the Revelry Sparkles furnishing are in the ESOlog (id 204412), but still don't have a page. Does HoodBot not create pages until the collectibles are released on the live server? As far as I know, we do have pages for other, older datamined collectibles that have yet to be released. Kallykat (talk) 13:10, 2 June 2024 (UTC)
Hi KallyKat,
I usually make the pages as soon as I get full enough data from the Data Log. It would not make sense to do so before (Datamining is great but usually does not come with IDs). Most of the pages cannot be found before the release as well because of the Pre-Release tag (they will not readily show in searches prior to the IDs becomming 'Live').
HoodBot is run by RobinHood, and will usually be run AFTER the Live release for things such as proper icon names, etc.
So... for items that are hidden within Crown Store releases, Furnishing Bundles, and Luxury vendor weekends, they may not get a page until they are actually released Live, since they have little information and no image. Erorah (talk) 20:21, 3 August 2024 (UTC)

Collectible Furnishings[edit]

Hi there! You're a frequent editor on Collections pages, so I wanted to make sure you know this. Due to a change in how we document Collectible furnishings (Specifically Pets, Mounts, an Allies), it's optimal to keep the .jpg file extension out of the Online Collectible Summary's image field. Before, the file extension was completely optional, and it didn't really matter whether you inserted the extension at the end of the image's name or not, but now we need to exclude the file extension completely, same as we do for icons. The new Collectible General Entry template autofills the .jpg file extension for a given collectible's primary image on Furnishing pages, and inserting the file extension on Collectible pages breaks the image on the corresponding furnishing pages.

Just wanted to keep you in the loop. Have a wonderful day! -MolagBallet (talk) 19:29, 29 February 2024 (UTC)

Thanks for letting me know! I'll try to keep this in mind. Kallykat (talk) 13:11, 2 June 2024 (UTC)

Furnishing Item Images[edit]

Hi KallyKat,

Thank you so much for all your help with the furnishings. There is ALWAYS so much to do!
May I offer help in taking images for furnishings? There are a couple of addons / things I do and use to get the best image possible, which includes straightening, zooming and capturing a very clear image.
I know that not everyone has access to fancy computers and gigatons of ram, however, a little adjustment can go a long way to ensuring our images are spot on :)
Please send a DM in Discord if you need. I am always available to aid. Erorah (talk) 20:28, 3 August 2024 (UTC) User-Erorah-Pinksmile.png
