Max Year
What is the max year on Oblivion and does it ever change to the 4th era? --Marleysexton 09:48, 10 January 2008 (EST)
- I'm not certain but it's probably 2,147,483,647! I don't think the era ever changes to 4 though. –Rpeh•T•C•E• 06:30, 10 January 2008 (EST)
- Whoa 3E2147483647! thanks. although extreamly unlikly what would happen if you were to reach that year? --Marleysexton 09:48, 10 January 2008 (EST)
- I'm just guessing in both cases! That number is 2^31-1, which is the biggest signed 32-bit number you can have. If you add one to that you'll either get a crash or the year will change, against all rational expectations, to -2,147,483,648. –Rpeh•T•C•E• 07:54, 10 January 2008 (EST)
- Assuming it is a 32-bit integer. I'd think for a number which under normal circumstances never leaves the 3-digit range, they'd have used a short-integer for it (16-bit), in which case, the maximum would be 65,535. I suppose you could test it in-game, though I can't imagine why it would ever be relevant, given how ridiculously long it would take to reach even the 16-bit limit. --TheRealLurlock Talk 13:45, 10 January 2008 (EST)

Knights of the Nine Pilgrimmage Error
I bought the Knights of the Nine Expansion Pack for the Xbox 360 version. However, when I am on the pilgrammage and traveling around to the 9 shrines, there are 2 Shrines of Zenithar. One of them is where it is supposed to be, but the other is where the Shrine of Arkay is supposed to be. It let me "visit" 8 of the shrines including the original Zenithar, but I can't get credit for the Arkay one. I've tried re-downloading from Live, but no change. Any ideas? Thanks! — Unsigned comment by 138.67.69.223 (talk) 00:00, January 12 2008 (EST)
- Nevermind. I found another Shrine to Arkay that I could use for the quest. Still, it is a weird glitch. — Unsigned comment by 138.67.69.223 (talk) 00:31, January 12 2008 (EST)

Opening the console and becoming a vampire
Well, I have two problems. If one of them is solved, it won't be needed to have the other one solved, but it could be really nice to solve them both if someone can. The first problem is that I can't open the console. I am running this game on a laptop using Windows Vista and although it has two tilde (~) keys on it's keyboard, it is not able to open the console. Do I have to change something on my system? The second problem exists from the reason that I couldn't open the console and I had to start the game again(I lost a book), and I arrived on the first quest when I had to fight vampires (in the gutted mine at the Azura's daedric quest). I made two saves, and in one of them I took the vampiric disease from the last vampire of the dungeon (the orc trapped behind the planks). Now the problem is, that I only have the Porphyric Hemophilia disease, but after I sleep, I do not become a vampire. I never took something to cure myself and my character is a nord, level 2, class warrior and birthsign warrior. My question is the following: Is there a way of getting vampirism, at a quest or two distance (this includes becoming a vampire if possible from the disease I already have, or complete a quest and recieve the opportunity to become a vampire, or in other means, without having to complete so many quests -begining the Dark Brotherhood and complete Vincente's quests would take too long-)? I have loaded and reloaded the savegames countless times, and it doesen't say about this glitch in the site. Any help will do me a huge favor and I would appreciate it a lot (it is possible to take vampirism, I took it on my previous saves after the mission for the thieves guild).86.124.250.212 16:55, 18 January 2008 (EST)
- Anonymous person who probably won't remember to come back here anyway: the following, from the "Unofficial Patch" release notes[^1] may be useful to you:
Corrected broken timers in scripting for vampirism and also removed unnecessary variables, which fixes the following bugs: the player will become a vampire when resting a minimum of three days after contracting Porphyric Hemophilia (which is what was supposed to happen, not immediately after contracting the disease) ; Feeding and then immediately resting (or waiting for less than 24 hours) will no longer cause the player to change state from 25% to 50% (a minimum of 24 hours is supposed to happen between state changes), and the higher-level states of vampirism (75% and 100%) will be accessible (whereas before they were dependent on the time of day of resting due to the broken timers.) On load of save of a player with Porphyric Hemophilia who has not yet rested, the broken day counter will be reset to zero allowing three days before vampirism occurs.
- I can't imagine what's going on with the tilde key though. See Oblivion:Console#General_Information for tips.

Obmm Setup
I am trying to install the Oblivion Mod Manager except I can't seem to find a file destination that works after the terms and agreement. I feel like this is a stupid question because I can't find anyone who's had this problem. There is a message that either tells me "Oblivion Mod Manager must be installed to Oblivions installation directory" or "You must enter a full path with drive letter; for example: C:\App or a UNC path in the form: \\server\share". Can anyone tell me where the destination location should be? — Unsigned comment by 24.56.21.130 (talk) on 21. February 2008
- The standard installation directory for oblivion is "C:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion" Is that what you were looking for? --NepheleTalk 02:39, 25 February 2008 (EST)

Leaving Morrowind Factions
- (moved from Talk:Main Page)
Could somebody please tell me how to leave a faction in Morrowind? Specifically, I'm trying to leave the Imperial Legion, as it's annoying having to lug around an imperial cuirass so I can talk to imperials. Any help would be appreciated, thanks. --70.52.148.217 12:22, 24 February 2008 (EST)
- The best way is to break the rules of the faction. In this case if you get caught killing a fellow Legion member, you'll be expelled. There are obviously bounty considerations there but otherwise there's no way to leave a faction. –Rpeh•T•C•E• 12:32, 24 February 2008 (EST)
Broken Armor on NPCs
After completing the Azani Blackheart mission in Oblivion when I got to Chorrol Modryn Oreyn didn't have any clothes just a pair of pants on. I checked his inventory and saw that his armor was all broken. I figured that he would repair it but after a while he was still unclothed. Is this a bug or do NPCs not repair their own armor? I tried to pickpocket and repair it but was unable to put it back because of not being able to place weighted items while pickpocketing. Is there a way to take care of this without the console because I play on the PS3?Chad86 03:45, 6 March 2008 (EST)
- If the NPC is leveled, they will normally 'repair' their own armor if you level up and stay away from them for three days - their level is adjusted to your new level, and they will be 'regenerated' at full health and with a brand new set of armor (which may be of a different material). However, Modryn does not appear to be leveled, so I don't think that he will ever be 'regenerated' in the normal course of things. You could try staying well away from Chorrol for more than three days anyway, and seeing if that fixes the issue. If not, then there is no way that I know of to repair or replace his armor without using the console. --Gaebrial 03:52, 6 March 2008 (EST)

- A better fix, if you have expert skill or better at armorer, is to repair summoned armor and weapons to 125%, then drop them until they time out.
- Enchant to taste, and reverse-pickpocket it onto the NPC. I recommend absorb health enchantments for their weapons, as they seem to always venture forth with inadequate supplies of health potions.
- Enchanting armor and weapons reset their health to 100%, so you can use the dupe glitch to keep enough on hand to equip an army. --[User adrnde on the forums]

Characters hate me
I currently have a problem where all of the characters in my game of Oblivion say that i look pale, sick, and should see a healer, etc. when i walk by them. Also, everybody except guards and fellow guild members say "get away from me you monster" and things like that when i talk to them. My fame is 136, and my infamy was 76, until I did the Pilgrimage - now it is 0. My level is 34. I also am not a vampire, and do not have any diseases. I have gone through the Deepscorn Hollow quest as well, though without using the minion or feeding off the prisoner. The worst part of the problem is that characters that i need to talk to for quests don't talk to me either. What is the problem and how can i fix it?? Thanks! Oh and i play on the xbox 360. 209.161.233.82 19:29, 10 March 2008 (EDT)
- Can you give us the exact line of dialogue? The line you quote doesn't exist in the unmodded game. –Rpeh•T•C•E• 02:38, 11 March 2008 (EDT)

- The exact lines of diaologue are: "No,no! Get away from me!", "Get back you filthy beast! I'll have nothing to do with the likes of you!", and "You won't get any of my blood! Get away from me!" When I walk by people, they say: "Are you not feeling well?", "Have you been ill recently? Your skin looks a bit... off", and "You should really get to a healer. You're looking rather pale." Just to make sure that I was not a vampire, I went to the Font of Renewal in Deepscorn Hollow. It said that I was not a vampire. I also checked my stats, and there are no vampire features. My face looks normal as well. I have slept many times and had some cure disease potions, so I could not be sick. What is wrong here? Thanks. 209.161.233.82 14:35, 11 March 2008 (EDT)

- Well that means that the people think you're a vampire even if the rest of the game doesn't. Those are precisely the three "Vampire" greeting messages. They are used if the disposition of the NPC towards you is less than 100, if the NPC isn't a vampire themselves and if the global variable "PCVampire" is 4. If you're on the PC you can use the console command
set PCVampire to 0
to reset your status. If you're on a console... I think you'll need to load from an earlier save unless you want to use charm spells to get everybody's disposition up to 100. –Rpeh•T•C•E• 15:18, 11 March 2008 (EDT)

To Prevent this in the future, I have a theory. It might be because... you were a vampire, and THEN you ate the beating heart, when you healed your vampirism, it only healed one of the two reasons for vampirism. Ddpacker 02:45, 28 June 2008 (EDT)
Soul Gem troubles
I am trying to collect souls to fill up soul gems. My goal is to get the five Grand soul gems needed for 100% chameleon gear, but that's another matter. I'm having trouble catching any souls. I read the page on soul trapping but I was still confused. What kinds of creatures drop petty souls? Common souls? I wandered into a cave (lvl7), and tried to soul trap some bandits, but it didn't work. I used a 20sec soul trap and dispatched then quickly. I also had at least five common and petty gems each, and a few grands. Yet no filled soul gems appeared. I stole all these soul gems, could that be the problem? Or is it that I can only soul trap creatures like wolves and trolls? At what level do you find Grand souls, or is it based on creature? For example, could I soul trap a vampire at lvl 1 and get a grand soul, or can I only get grand souls at a higher level? If I could get my questions answered or maybe have the page changed to answer these questions, I'd be very grateful. Also, sorry if this question is in the wrong place. I've used this site a lot to help me with the game, but hadn't created an account on any type of wiki page until recently. InternetNinja 19:52, 14 March 2008 (EDT)
- Bandits (and all Oblivion:NPCs) have black souls and therefore their souls can only be trapped using Black Soul Gems. To fill standard soul gems, you need to be killing creatures. Specific information on which creatures have which types of souls is provided on the Oblivion:Souls article. But basically, most souls are level-dependent. Grand souls either come from leveled creatures once your character's level is high enough or else grand souls come from the types of creatures that only appear once your level is high enough. Actually, the best way to get "grand"-type souls if you have a low-level character is to use Black Soul Gems: follow the instructions on the Oblivion:Black Soul Gem article and change your Grand Soul Gems into Black Soul Gems. Then go back to killing bandits, vampires, or any other NPCs, and trap their souls in your new Black Soul Gems. Those filled soul gems will be just as powerful as filled Grand Soul Gems. --NepheleTalk 20:16, 14 March 2008 (EDT)
-
- Okay, I'm still having trouble. I went to the altar and changed four grand soul gems into black soul gems. Then I went to Undertow Cavern and attacked bandits. After killing one with soul tap on, I still didn't fill up any soul gems. I then went across the river to a tomb filled with skeletons. I tried again there with no success. What exactly is the proccess? cast the spell then kill them? Somehow I'm not doing something right. This is very frustrating. --InternetNinja 14:22, 15 March 2008 (EDT)
-
-
- Yes, you cast the spell then kill them. But you need to make sure the target dies while the spell is still active. If you're using the basic Soul Trap spell, the effect only lasts for 20 seconds so you need to kill the target within 20 seconds. As long as the effect is active, the target should have a slight purple glow showing that the effect is active. If the effect runs out, you need to cast the spell again. --NepheleTalk 14:34, 15 March 2008 (EDT)

- If you use Umbra or some other sword with a "Soul Trap on Strike" effect, it will be SO much easier. The only problem, though, is you'll run out of soul gems pretty quick, unless you have Azura's Star, which, judging by your inexperiance with soul-trapping, you probably don't.--Darth NANAME 19:36, 28 March 2008 (EDT)

A Little Help Please :)
Hi LilithChan again this time now fully into TES4 GOTY Edition I have help concerning modding/Mod creation&editing And can use some realtime help from someone with experince in this department who can explain in depth using english not codephrases like CS Wiki....lol, Anyhow this is a sos as I have alot of mods I want to work together that seem to conflict and will need help changing them to suit the game in a non-conflicting manner while also changing the overdone attempts by the creators to balance the mods, some of which actually made impossible or unrealistic recs, I want to be able to have the added content while changing the way the world functions to my own taste rather then someone elses, anyhow thx and please help me out by setting ameans of RT contact regarding the issue Lilith :) 19:20, 20 March 2008 (EDT)
NPC Deaths
Alright so rather simple question, i just can't seem to find the anwser anywhere I'm playing on 360, and Im just curious how the game handles NPC deaths, in other words if i kill someone on accident, are they dead forever? or is thier a natural respawn? I ask because my brother killed almost everyone in Bruma, then saved :( Thanks in Advanced — Unsigned comment by 68.207.98.142 (talk)
- Almost none the NPCs in the game respawn. So few of them do that it's always mentioned on their article; indeed so few respawn that I can't even think of one at the moment. Since you're on the 360 I'm afraid you'll need to load from an earlier save to get them back. This would be a good lesson to your brother that mass slaughter has its consequences. –Rpeh•T•C•E• 02:09, 25 March 2008 (EDT)
Hi if there is anyone with mod scripting experince please see what you can do to help fix the mod i downloaded to function as advertised in film?
hi I downloaded and installed the mod the sixth element and all spells but one work as advertised in the film.
the spell rip flesh however does not function as advertised in the film, and it has a mondo willpower req that it could do without while keeping the effect as shown in film, using construction set I tried editing the willpower req out and doing such does make the spell castable, however it's visuals are no different then a health destruction spell from the base oblivion mod and the whole flesh ripped to bones effect does not seem to take even if it ever did, as is everyone I talked to has stated that even with modded 255 in all skills&stats and tgm mode enabled this spell still remains uncastable with a "you do not have enough willpower to peirce the victims flesh" prompt.
I was wondering if this mod is a gimmick or if it can work as shown in the film and if so how to get it to work as in film and accompish that without the willpower requirement as not everyone wants things to be overbalanced any more then they do want them overpowered, I myself however have no such qualms I just want to see it work as advertised so I can wreak havok and have fun playing a necromancer on par if not better then manimarco?
after all what is a evil necromancer without the ability to wreak havok on those who are lesser in skill and make armies of undead do their bidding?, bad enough the pentical looks cool and the raining flesh and ressurection spells work(too bad mobs attack anyone and everyone including you would be cool to also make that spell have a feature similar to command creature spell for you to have a army of undead to really make it like you would picture a high lvl 255 with maxed stats and skills would be able to summons hordes to thier beck and call and not just for short bursts) anyhow if the ripflesh spell worked as shown in film it would at least make this mod worth it's shortcomings in the department that anything you rezz with the command flash spell in your hexigram attack you :(, with the means to rip the flesh off hapless victims this minor probelm would be worth the lack of control, oh well this is just a sos, if no one can help I guess I will have to delete the darn mod as it just does not work as advertised...lol
Ripflesh spell cost 104 magicka(journeyman), school:destruction, visuals effect damage health, target spell 0 area, duration of 1, effect is hostile.
scripting for the ripflesh spell://
scn J3XRipFlesh ref self short spell begin scripteffectstart set self to getself if self.getav health < (player.getav willpower)/2 && self.IsEssential != 1 && IsCreature self != 1 self.pme MYTH self.additem J3XSkeletonBody 1 self.additem J3XSkeletonhead 1 set spell to 1 player.PushActorAway self 10 else message "You don't have enough willpower to penetrate the victims flesh." return endif end
begin scripteffectupdate if spell == 1 self.pme MYTH self.EquipItem J3XSkeletonBody 1 self.EquipItem J3XSkeletonhead 1 self.kill set spell to 2 endif end
Mind you I do not know what any of that means besides the part thats the req , if self.getav health < (player.getav willpower)/2
so I cannot figure out why taking that line out makes the other scripted effects not work or why the spell never worked with it in even at maxxed stats, hope someone can tell me how to properly edit this spell's willpower req out and have it do exactly like what the movie shows?
btw heres the utube film for reference and below that a link for the mod file:

Telvanni stronghold
Ok so this has been bugging me to no end for the last few weeks. In Morrowind Telvanni quests, I am in the second stage on building my stronghold. where you have to get the dwemer schematics from Mzanchend and give them to Llunela Hleran along with 5000gp. Well I got the schematics or so I thought but she keeps saying "You have the gold but where are the dwemer schematics?" I have one schematic called "dwemer scarab schematics" and another called "dwemer scarab plans" I have tried multiple things to try and correct this such as increasing rank, nothing has worked yet. help would be greatly appreciated. — Unsigned comment by 75.8.33.27 (talk) on 31. Frostcrag Weather
Hello.. I downloaded the Frostcrag Spire plugin on my 360, and every time I travel there it starts to rain (in the supposed snowy mountains?) I know it may sound picky, but one of their selling points is a "spectacular view" of Cyrodil, but there really isn't any view at all when it constantly rains. If I walk to gnoll mtn, it will stop raining and start snowing, walk back to tower, starts raining again every time. Do seasons in the game play a role in this? Thoughts or answers would be cool. Thanks! — Unsigned comment by 71.63.154.55 (talk)
- You've just been unlucky so far. Try waiting when you're at Frostcrag Spire. It'll turn sunny eventually! –Rpeh•T•C•E• 05:51, 31 March 2008 (EDT)
Hjalti?
One more question.. I downloaded the Fighter's Stronghold on the 360, very cool plugin, but I understand that the smith there is supposed to have a pet wolf named Hjalti, however it does not seem to be anywhere. I have completed all of the upgrades and defeated the Lich and Kain in the Grotto. Still no wolf. Is he missing from the 360 version? Or do I have to re-install it perhaps? I don't really need the pet wolf but I'm curious that he's not there. Thanks in advance. BTW thanks for your previous help Rpeh. — Unsigned comment by 71.63.154.55 (talk)
- There was a discussion about Hjalti here, and the result seems to be that he turns up eventually. In my game he appears as soon as I get the quest update after receiving the will but others seem to have a delay for some reason. I can only advise that you wait and see if he appears. –Rpeh•T•C•E• 01:56, 1 April 2008 (EDT)
-
- He was there before I started the quest for me. So I don't know how that is happening to you guys.
-
-
- Yup.. that was weird. He showed up after about 2 weeks (gametime.) What was particularly strange is that I loaded a save in the courtyard, where you can clearly see he wasn't there, then he just appeared after it loaded, and he's been there ever since.

Illusion confusion
I have a level 30 character and just recently maxed out my illusion skill, and decided to create some powerful spells. I have read the conversion chart (lvl 25 = 100 points) so I understand how that works in theory, and have also read each section on spells. (i.e. Demoralize, Charm, Calm etc..) But I seem to have had trouble with which particular spell works with which type of character/monster. For example (all spells lvl 25) I encountered some mauraders - calm and/or demoralize did not work at all. Same thing with Orges. However calm worked on Skeleton Champions, but demoralize did not. (which, I know, Turn Undead is for) In fact, it's said that calm works on almost every type (creatures, humanoids, daedra, dremora, and undead) in the game, but for me, does not seem to work with humanoids or creatures. I am just a bit confused. Any thoughts or answers? Thanks again! — Unsigned comment by 71.63.154.55 (talk) on 2. April 2008
- Note.. OK so I just realized that my spell effectiveness is at 95% and played a roll in this, and the spells work when armor is removed. However, it still seems odd, wouldn't effectiveness at 95% still translate in to a magnitude of 95? Maybe that's why the quirky level conversions are the way they are? Bummer. I don't suppose that your effectiveness reaches 100% if you max out your armor skill? — Unsigned comment by 71.63.154.55 (talk) on 2. April 2008

Item Jumping
Whenever I go into any sort of residence and pick up an item on a table, all the other items "jump" some will fall off the table and others will just barely float like an inch off the table. Its a problem because if I sneak into a house and grab an item, very often some of the other items will jump so bad that they'll fall under a nearby desk. Is this normal? Gray Cowl of Noctournal
My gray cowl of noctournal dissapeared, the problem is I wasn't even wearing it when I was arrested. it is neither in my bags, nor is it in the evidence chest of the prison I was sent to. its just.. gone. my question is, is there any way for me to get a new one? Closing the Bravil gate
Hi guys, playing Oblivion on the Xbox 360, but very frustrated... playing the Allies for Bruma quest... whenever i get to the end of the main tower of the oblivion gate outside Bravil, i get all the way to the end, and then it wont let me remove the sigilum stone from the fire. I am stood right in front of it, yet whichever way I face it there's no option for me to remove the stone and thereby close the gate. I've been able to do this in all other oblivion worlds. Very frustrating!!!!!!!! Can anyone suggest a way? — Unsigned comment by 86.134.50.49 (talk) on 21. April 2008

- Correction, I just read over this question again and I think I understand your problem. You don't actually get an option to pick it up, just press A when your crosshair is facing it (for some reason, no matter what [even if you set one down] Sigil Stones don't get a "pick up" sign.

-
- No, I'm currently having the same problem too, but for me, it's the Skingrad gate. When you're at the Sigil Stone, your crosshair should turn into a hand and prompt you to activate the stone. But it just stays a crosshair. I'm trying to find a non-reload older save solution. 67.80.176.37 00:46, 19 September 2008 (EDT)Koyori
- I've experienced the same thing. Not a quest Gate, but a random one. The sigil stone was there, in it's little spot in the Sanguis, but with no prompt to take it. I wasn't able to find a way around it though. It'd be lovely if someone could. Darkle 00:58, 19 September 2008 (EDT)

Hey, I recently completed the Big Head quest on the Shivering Isles, to give him the Fork of Horripilation. However, once the quest was completed, he got killed by someone(possibly the guards I think) and I foolishly picked up the Fork of Horripilation again; so its stuck as a quest item in my pack. Glass Armour
At the moment, I'm level 12, and I have been asking around for how to acquire full glass armour, or at least peices of it anyway. Nobody can give me a straight answer, I'm hoping somebody knows a Guaranteed way of getting it, as the suggestions so far have provided no successful results. Thanks in advance

- There are few guaranteed ways to get any piece of armor in Oblivion. But even more importantly, all loot that you find while playing the game is leveled which means you will not find any glass armor until your character reaches level 20. How does spell resistence apply to the apprentice?
My question is simple. To resist completely to magic an apprentice should have 100% resist or 200% to compensate the weakness of the birthsign? The fact is that i want to create a high elf-apprentice sorcerer, and i need to be immune to magic or this character will be totaly useless. Should i use spell reflection, absorbtion or resist? Please someone help!!!!!!!! — Unsigned comment by Robbo1986 (talk • contribs) on 5. June 2008
- It's additive, so you need 200%. See this talk page where I asked a similar question a while back. As for which variety of magic resistance you should use, they all have benefits and drawbacks, but my tendency would be to go with Absorption. Others will probably disagree. Your best bet is to read the Reflect vs Absorb vs Resist info. --Robin Hood (Talk • E-mail • Contribs) 14:25, 12 June 2008 (EDT)

Ive looked and fast traveled to every place i can think of. any suggestions? - hYBRYDcOBRA
- I'm not 100% sure of this, but I think a horse that goes unridden for a while will try to make its way back to where it was bought. With all the monsters about, however, the likelihood of it making its way all the way back from a distant location is probably quite low. --Robin Hood (Talk • E-mail • Contribs) 02:31, 14 June 2008 (EDT)

- Correction to what RobinHood said... If a horse walks unmanned to a stable, it is just as if he fast traveled, though they do actually walk there, nothing will attack it unless YOU come within seeing distance of both it, and an aggressive creature/NPC.
Black Horse Courier Papers Issue
Okay I have looked everywhere posted on several forums and I still can't find 2 papers for the Black Horse courier. I'm trying to collect them all and all I need right now is "Anvil Tarts Thwarted" and "Pale Pass Discovery" for anvil tarts it says from any Imperial male in anvil except guards and dark brotherhood. well i have talked to every Imperial in anvil about rumors and not a single one has given me a paper. Some people have talked about the quest but no paper. For the Pale Pass one it says any Imperial Publician and i saw that was an innkeeper. Well I have went to several but I don't know how to get it. I talk to them about rumors but they don't give me any. One website said from the 4 horse couriers but I've talked to them all tons of times and I've only gotten the "Back Issues" Any help would be appreciated. Defence of Bruma
I am stuck on the Defence of Bruma Quest. The main problem I am having is keeping Martin alive. If he is alive when the great gate finally opens I get the message saying he has died every time I enter it (am I entering the wrong gate?). Most of the time he dies before I get a chance to enter the great gate, so I am looking for specific help on spells/enchantments that would be usueful (and instructions on how to make or where to find). I have gathered all the allies possible as well. I apologise for such a simple question but have checked all the forums and scoured the net and the only helpful one said is just to prepare custom spells (fortify health and strenghth) but I cannot figure how to do that. Any hints tips on how I can finish this quest would be great, but please be specific as I have very little skill. shivering isles on 360 doesnt work
I recently bought “shivering isles” for Xbox 306. I placed the disk in my console and let it download the new content. It then said something like “eject disk and insert oblivion disk”. I did this and let Oblivion start. Once this happened ant the main menu appeared, I pressed start and a message along the lines of “reading downloaded content appeared”. I then continued form a previous game, and as the instructions said waited 48 hours for a message about “a mysterious door”, but one didn’t appear, I waited another 48 hours, still no message, so I went to where the door should be and it wasn’t there. So I started a new game, one I left the sewer I waited another 48 hours, and no message can anyone help. if the problen is solved with online, then it will be no help due to me not having xbox live 92.43.64.68 05:42, 18 July 2008 (EDT)

However, I don't think that you'd need an internet connection for SI if you used the disc. Especially since the game says at start-up that it's reading the DLC. Glorious Bone Heap
On XBOX, I have gathered around a thousand bones from all over Cyrodil with the hope of dumping them in a huge heap somewhere. However, I find that if I try to drop them anywhere, instead of falling in to a glorious bone heap, they appear as one item that is like Skull (500). This is terrible. I know that if they were stolen, then they would all fall separately; therefore, does anyone know how to get the stolen flag on hundreds of items at once? - You might want to try reading UESP's articles before asking questions, because all of your questions are answered on the relevant articles. In other words, just type in the relevant word ("Welkynd Stone", "Pilgrimage", etc.) into the search box at the left, hit "Go", and read the article that pops up. If you'd done that, you would have found the exact answers to your questions:
- On Welkynd Stone: "They do not respawn."
- On Pilgrimage: "The pilgrimage may be completed at any time, even outside this questline"
- On Auroran: "[they] are found at Garlas Malatar during the quest Umaril the Unfeathered and after completing the Knights of the Nine questline."
- You'll get your answers much more quickly by reading the articles, not to mention saving other editors the trouble of retyping information that's already been written up. --NepheleTalk 01:18, 19 July 2008 (EDT)

Block calculations
I cannot find basic information on block chances. On the Block Skill page it says "You block 75% of a hit when using a shield, at Master level skill, 50% if blocking with a weapon." This implies that your block skill determines the block percentage, but I can't find any elaboration on this. If anyone can give the formula/calculation for this (or short of that at least a description of the mechanics) I would appreciate it. And just to clarify, the block points are the percentage of damage blocked, NOT the percentage chance that a hit will be entirely blocked, correct? Thankyou --Jurosem

Efficient Leveling Question GOTY Oblivion
I'm trying to level efficiently and according to the guide: "Your attribute bonuses are set when you gain your 10th major skill point. Training skills after that, but before you sleep/level-up, starts the process of accruing skills towards attribute bonuses for the next level up. It is possible to sleep several times in succession with multiple level-ups."
I tried doing this leveling from level 1 to level 3. I slept to check the first time the level up indicator appeared and had three +5 attributes and reloaded prior to sleeping. I then proceded to gain to more +5 attributes using a combination of minor and major skills. When I had obtained an additional 10 skill increases in the major skills, I slept again. I had 5 +5 attribute increases for going to level 2 and no attribute increases for level 3. What am I doing wrong? — Unsigned comment by 75.162.233.72 (talk) on 16. August 2008

Right, I may have a solution for you. After looking at the quest on this Wiki, I know what you might be able to do. Is Rienna's body there??? If it is, search her body to get the key to the mine. Then complete the quest as normal [kill all the goblins]. Then just simply return to the Fighters Guild to get your reward. If her body isn't there for whatever reason, I'm sorry but you'll probably have to skip the Fighters Guild. Chewjacka 11:57, 23 October 2008 (EDT)

Morrowind Elder Scrolls End Game Question
Dear wise people. I ve just completed Morrowind Elder Scrolls (not without the help of this great site tho, so thanks) and I had a question. In the papers given to me by Vivec it reads that information about how to use the heart to tap its power has been hidden from me (Nerevarine) for safety reasons. I was wondering, does anyone have this information? Is it in a book or lore somewhere, or maybe someone figured it out by testing? Or maybe with the fabled construction kit someone saw it? Is there even any code for such an event? Would very much like to know an awnser, thanks! Vince (83.83.206.115 10:41, 15 October 2008 (EDT))
- There's nothing to find, I'm afraid. It's just a way of stopping you doing anything interesting with the heart except destroy it. There's no book and nothing in the CS. –Rpeh•T•C•E• 13:37, 15 October 2008 (EDT)
Oblivion GOTY 360: Shivering isles: Hunger/Heretic question
Good day to you all fellow residents of Tamriel. The other day I made a new character and decided, more or less, to start him out in the Shivering Isles, I'd just killed the Gatekeeper, chose the Mania Gate, and started heading up the road through Mania towards Bliss(double entendre there). Along the way, I donned a set of heretic robes, in part because I was curious how close I could get before it decided to attack, to the point though, I arrived at Talltree Camp, level 2 by this point, and lo-and-behold I find a Starving Hunger. Here's the odd thing though, at no point has it taken a hostile stance with me, it just keeps plodding around the camp. My question, is this because I'm wearing the Heretic robes, or is it possible that this little guy is just bugged? I apologize for rambling and hope you'll be able to solve my conundrum. - Take the robes off, and I suspect you'll know soon enough one way or the other. ;) --Robin Hood (Talk • E-mail • Contribs) 15:54, 12 November 2008 (EST)
Oblivion (Game Of Year + Shivering Isles/Knights of 9) for Xbox 360: Where are all the helmets?
Really, where do you find light armor helmets? I've been trucking around with the Magehunter's helmet for about 80% of the game, and a glass helmet would really, really be nice. I appear to be the only merchant in the world who ever sells glass anything, and possibly also the only person in the world who even considers wearing a helmet--so looting appears to not be an option. I've read about the Fin Gleam, but if possible I'd like something I can enchant myself so I don't have to take it off specially in towns to look at people without them glowing purple in my eyes. Any suggestions on where I can dig up headbuckets? 65.189.243.60 00:50, 19 November 2008 (EST)
- See the FAQs page, in particular the question Where can I find good armor easily?. --NepheleTalk 01:09, 19 November 2008 (EST)
- Oh, hey, neat, someone actually does wear a helmet out there! Many thanks. 74.218.88.201 15:04, 19 November 2008 (EST)
Spell Effect stuck on
- (moved from User_talk:Daveh#Spell Effect stuck on)
I was levelling up using a normal Life Detection spell, casting it repeatedly and I've just discovered that the effect seems to have stuck on, after the icon in the corner has timed out the visual effect remains on screen, following all characters on screen. Is there any console command or something I can use to clear it away? I've tried waiting for a long length of time, but it's still there. Unfortunately my most recent save is hours in the past so I hope that's not the only solution! Alexsutton 09:34, 22 November 2008 (EST)
- Check your active effects page - the rightmost tab on the Spells section of your journal. It'll tell you what's giving you the effect. Most likely you're wearing something that's granting the effect. If that isn't the case, try casting a Dispel effect on yourself. –Rpeh•T•C•E• 09:38, 22 November 2008 (EST)

shadowmere is gone cause of the unicorn!
Help! i just did hircine's quest and mounted the unicorn. I knew it would become my active horse, but I thought killing it would bring back shadowmere. But it didn't, and shadowmere din't even reappear at fort farragut. I need some insight, because shadowmere is the only horse I like in the game.24.47.214.193 22:07, 2 December 2008 (EST)
- From Oblivion:Shadowmere:
- "... she will always start to wander back to Fort Farragut (which may take a very long time) ..."
- and also:
- ... armored versions of Shadowmere do not have the
HorsePCFarragutGoHome
AI package, and therefore she will not return to Fort Farragut if she wanders off." --GuildKnightTalk2me 22:52, 2 December 2008 (EST)
Morrowind GOTY - new armor pieces
I've played morrowind about a year and a half ago and recently started again. But now I'm finding all sorts of new armor pieces throughout the game and I can't for the life of me remember installing an armor mod. The pieces I'm finding are pauldrons to the unique cuirasses, i.e. Lord's Mail pauldrons, Dragonbone Cuirass pauldrons, Savior's Hide pauldrons, etc. And I also found a pair of Nordic Iron boots, which aren't on the site here. Has anyone any idea which mod these items are from or how I find out? I have quite a lot of mods installed, so naming them all here isn't a good idea and manually browsing through them with the Construction set would be a lot of work. If anyone knows how I can trace an item from the Construction set back to the mod of origin that would be a great help. Pinguin333 06:40, 12 December 2008 (EST)
- They're all definitely from a mod. None of those items are in vanilla or GotY Morrowind. Your best bet to find which mod is adding them is a simple search. Use Textpad or some such program and see which file contains the phrase "Nordic Iron Boots". –Rpeh•T•C•E• 06:46, 12 December 2008 (EST)

- The pauldrons are probably from Jeremy's Divine Domina series of mods. Not sure about the Nordic Iron boots, although DD does also add a full set of Nordic Ringmail armor. --Gaebrial 06:57, 22 December 2008 (EST)
Cannot Log In Forums
I can't log into the forums. I've tried everything. What do I do? — Unsigned comment by Master Zero (talk • contribs) on December 23, 2008
- What do you mean? Do you get an error message? Can't you even see the forum index? A little more details would be nice. -- Codex 10:33, 25 December 2008 (EST)
I'm sorry I should have been more specific but I was in a hurry. No, there's no error message, I can see the index, I just can't log on or post. When I try it says I must have an inactive account or something, but I have already done editing, such as fixing info about Rosethorn hall glitches and fixing spelling and grammatical mistakes. It's NOT an incorrect username or password. Please help me I want to post. P.S. How do you become a moderator?
Ok I figured it out.
- For the record, you can't use the same user/pass as you do on the Wiki. And you don't ask to become a moderator, you get asked. -- Codex 00:46, 26 December 2008 (EST)
I know you dont use the same i figured that out and i didnt ask to become i asked how to become a mod
