Detailed Walkthrough[edit]

South of Omaynis's silt strider, past the broken timbers of the Unusual Shipwreck, stands a spherical rock atop a steep hill. Here you will find the Golden Saint, Kaari. Speak to her, and she will explain that she has been bound on Nirn, as punishment from the Mad God, Sheogorath. Offer to help Kaari, and she will be grateful - and suggest two ways of lifting her curse. The first involves the boulder she is bound to, and the second involves the daedric ruin of Veranzaris, where another Golden Saint, Issmi, dwells.

Handling the boulder[edit]

If you wish to try and break the curse by working with the boulder, approach and activate it. You will be given four options - pushing the boulder down the hill into the raging torrent beyond, undoing the boulder's enchantments, attempting to hit the boulder, or leaving it well alone.

Pushing the boulder down the hill requires 85 strength. Doing so will cause it to roll down, and descend a series of waterfalls, coming to rest in a small pool. This action will render Kaari utterly murderous, as she does not appreciate being bound within the water for eternity, and speaking to her afterwards will induce her to attack you.

Hitting the boulder, or leaving it well alone, will have no effect. Your only option to successfully break Kaari's binding to Nirn is through high Intelligence, of 90 or more. If you can do this, then return to Kaari once the unbinding has been completed, and she will disappear, promising to aid you whenever she can.

If you cannot remove the enchantment upon the boulder, then your only option to aid Kaari is to do as she suggests, and travel to Veranzaris to speak to Issmi.

Issmi[edit]

The daedric ruin of Veranzaris is east-northeast of Kaari's position, and lying a little way west of Andothren. It is guarded chiefly by cultists, while the Golden Saint, Issmi, stands beneath the statue of Sheogorath in the ruin's shrine. Speak to her. You'll need to offer to perform an errand for her to progress. She'll be pleased at this, and will send you towards another Daedric shrine - Ossurnashalit.

Ossurnashalit, a shrine to Molag Bal, lies just to the south of Kairi and her boulder. Hostile daedra can be found throughout the ruin. Your target is an Argonian in the shrine, Father-To-Many-Mother-To-Few. He'll summon four Newborn Clannfear as you approach (correlating with the four slain Argonians in the next room), so you may want to get in some early shots at range. Once he's down, exit the ruin and return to Issmi in Ossurnashalit, who will be pleased at your work and promise to intervene with Sheogorath on Kaari's behalf.

Return now to Kaari, and speak to her about bound on Nirn to trigger her departure - not one without thanks, but with no reward either. Instead, Kaari promises to one day appear to you in order to repay her debt. In practice, this means that she will intervene the next time that your health reaches very low levels, manifesting upon Nirn one final time and assisting you in any combat you may be in.

Notes[edit]

  • While no item or gold is given as a reward for this quest, Kaari will manifest herself when your health falls to a very low level, to assist you in your combat.

5 On a mountaintop southwest of Omaynis, I met a Golden Saint named Kaari. She says she's bound on Nirn by the daedric prince Sheogorath and needs my help. I could try to break the enchantments on the boulder she is bound to myself. Alternatively, I could go to the Daedric shrine of Veranzaris and speak with a Golden Saint named Issmi. She has Sheogorath's ear.
