What qualifies?[edit]
I noticed that at least one item on the "partially persistent" list is a bit wrong. The Aetherium Wars book is listed there, but at least for me, that book is a quest item. Meaning that I can't remove it from my inventory. So as far as making a corpse permanent (which seems to be the point here), it can't be used, since you can't remove it from your inventory, at least until after the quest. (And at that point I don't think it's any kind of "persistent" anymore, but I could be wrong. Other items may be like that as well, not sure. — TheRealLurlock (talk) 19:48, 9 April 2013 (GMT)
- Can't really answer you since I don't have Dawnguard, but patch 1.9 have changed a lot of things. In fact I'm gonna verify if the list is still correct now, because many items have lost their quest-item status and might not be permanent anymore. -- Elakyn (talk) 08:43, 13 April 2013 (GMT)

- Aetherium wars is "partially persistent" AFTER it loses its quest status (after you've advanced further into associated quest), but only the first copy you've obtained. Sergio Morozov (talk) 08:14, 10 May 2013 (GMT)
Radient Rament fine clothes[edit]
I sold the quest item fine clothes to Sorine Jurard. Her merchant chest has respawned several times (we even raided castle Volkihar) and they are still available for sale. I can say they were never dropped so they may be partially persistent. 24.8.76.113 18:38, 22 July 2013 (GMT)
Silus Vesuius[edit]
After completing Pieces of the Past (by killing Silus) at least one, maybe two in-game months ago and I didn't return to the area since. After coming back, both Dremora had respawned but Silus's body was still in the same spot it was when I killed him. He was still wearing his Mythic Dawn apparel. I was wondering if anyone else could look into whether or not the Mythic Dawn boots, gloves, and both sets of robes are permanent. — Unsigned comment by 98.80.238.42 (talk) at 18:37 on 24 August 2013

Proposed Deletion[edit]
I would like to propose that this article be deleted for a couple of reasons...
The page itself is rather poorly cobbled together, in my opinion. It needs a lot of TLC and much of it could be outright deleted. For instance, we have a whole section that is a poorly written list of items that are suspected - not factually proven - to be permanent or persistent items. Secondly, does this kind of list even need to exist if it were clean? That strikes me as something that should be on the item's page, not on a separate list. That information in and of itself isn't relevant without the rest of the info (i.e. it's proper page). Next, this page is grammatically in need of work, and I can point out a few examples of such. I might also point out that the page itself is improperly titled (needs proper capitalisation).
I'll admit that all of these issues could be fixed with a cleanup tag, however I have decided not to just tag it, simply because I highly doubt this page would get any attention. The creator of this page (who also has a sandbox of it, meaning this page is just an eyesore until the creator cleans up his 'box) doesn't give it any mind, and there is seemingly no direct interest in this page, given that it doesn't link from anywhere, except for two pages, and nobody has taken the effort to do anything with the page or tag it for cleanup.
It's my opinion that the validity and usefulness of the information on a page like this be evaluated first and foremost, then secondly, if it DOES have a place on here, I think we should either tag this page as a WIP and have someone focus on fixing up and validating all the information contained within, or we should delete it until the creator does the fixing, because as it stands, we have a sandbox page here that is filled with information that is poorly formatted and isn't necessarily validated. I doubt I need to say that all UESP articles need to look professional and contain valid, verified information, right?
Opinions? -damon xoxo 05:23, 7 October 2013 (GMT)
- This seems like it should be a category page. Create a category, call it something like Category:Skyrim Permanent Items, then put the text in explaining what permanent items are on the category page and add items to the category once they're verified to be that. Otherwise nobody's going to see it. --Morrolan (talk) 13:24, 7 October 2013 (GMT)

- This is a useful resource. However, I do agree it does need to be cleaned tidied up-not deleted or removed. There are quest items for example that cannot be traded so those for example-should be removed. — Unsigned comment by 174.4.12.181 (talk) at 20:18 on 11 October 2013

- I am not saying this information permanently be deleted, numbers. I am saying that it is either given top priority by someone to promptly get it verified and in line with the Style Guide, or it is temporarily deleted until it is fixed by the creator, because the creator posted a work-in-progress page. We are the best Elder Scrolls wiki because we have the most accurate information, and this information is completely (or mostly) unverified, meaning it's unacceptable to have on the site in its current state.

- Category pages are dedicated pages. Most category pages just have short descriptions of what's in the category, but they don't need to be. You can put as much - or as little - information as you want on them.
- This page was created by Sergio Morozov, who has a total of one edit since May. If it's going to be sandboxed, someone else is probably going to have to do it. I posted on his talk page to try and get his attention, but odds are he's not going to see it. --Morrolan (talk) 00:56, 12 October 2013 (GMT)
- I'm kinda on the fence on this one, as this article is pretty messy. Still, it is an aspect of the game that may be of interest to some, though the usefulness of this info does seem pretty limited. As it stands, it reflects poorly on the wiki and should at least be stripped down to verified info, with all of the "suspected items" moved to the talk page. --Xyzzy Talk 05:06, 12 October 2013 (GMT)
- I agree that it was "poorly cobbled together", for I lack the required skills to make it a good one. However, total deletion is not something I'd be happy to see. Sergio Morozov (talk) 09:01, 12 October 2013 (GMT)
- After a bit more thinking, maybe a short description of what the "permanent" property is (and of its usefulness in corpse preservation) should be left in this article, and a category for "permanent" items is made as Morrolan suggested. And then list of items could be removed. Also I've removed "suspected" items from the article. Sergio Morozov (talk) 09:10, 12 October 2013 (GMT)
- Haven't all these items been tested? What separates the "suspected" from the "verified" here, aside from the fact that a different person tested them? It all seems rather messy. 78.251.156.122 11:22, 12 October 2013 (GMT)
- The verified items were tested by placing them onto corpse which should despawn, leaving it for a time required for it to despawn and visiting again. The suspected items were sold to a vendor, and remained in his inventory after it reset (however, this does not seem to always guarantee that those items will prevent corpses from despawning).5.35.76.111 15:46, 12 October 2013 (GMT)
- Bah, that was me, forgot to log in.Sergio Morozov (talk) 15:47, 12 October 2013 (GMT)
- So this article is about items that prevent any containers they're in from respawning, even if those containers are normally unsafe for storage? Assuming that's been tested, there's absolutely no reason for a separate page. A note on the pages of the respective items would make much more sense; even a category page would be better. I would support deletion of this article. A category page would be useful, but first I think we need to identify what it is that makes an item prevent containers from respawning (if indeed that is the case; again, we might need to do a lot of testing here) with the CK. (←) Not containers, corpses. They do not despawn if they have such an item on them.Sergio Morozov (talk) 15:47, 12 October 2013 (GMT)
- I think that, even if this article is deleted , there should be a list of these items somewhere. It is much easier to simply go to a page like this, or a category page, than it is to look through tons of item pages looking for one that says it's a permanent item. About Zephyr...[edit]
I placed Zephyr in a corpse in an attempt to keep the corpse from disappearing, but it disappeared anyway, and Zephyr along with it. I think the statement "Weapons from the second part of this list may fail to prevent corpses from disappearing, although they will remain in respawning containers" should be altered to something like "Permanent weapons may fail to prevent corpses from disappearing, although they will remain in respawning containers" so that players referencing this page won't have the same issue I did (i.e. losing weapons while trying to preserve corpses). Awaiting approval from fellow editors. EDIT: I'm going to go ahead and make the change. Username12345 (talk) 15:03, 6 January 2015 (GMT)
Resource for more information.[edit]
A user over at GameFaqs made an large informative list on many permanent items (along with other information regarding Thralls).

"Permanent until dropped" include putting items in containers?[edit]
Just a question.. does "Permanent until dropped" include storing any of these items in containers i.e. chests, barrels in your home?

How even Ebony blade and The Gauldur amulet can deasper w/o preventing the bodies to despawn![edit]
If you place Ebony blade or The Gauldur amulet in the Penitus Oculatus soldiers that attack you after poisoning the emperor in order to prevent them from despawning it WILL NOT work. But instead the bodies will despawn and your ``permanent items`` will desapear with them. Imao its a bug that would apply to all permanent items. P.S. So seems if you want to have Penitus Oculatus as Dead Thrall you cant store safely their bodies using permanent items. — Unsigned comment by 213.167.29.27 (talk) at 22:18 on 7 August 2018
- "Note: Permanent weapons may fail to prevent corpses from disappearing, although they will remain in respawning containers." This is already noted in he article. --Xyzzy Talk 17:12, 8 August 2018 (UTC)
Ah, pure delight.[edit]
I am delighted to see that our discovery of these items persisted through the years and even gained some traction.

Deleting some items, adding an item.[edit]
Not special anymore:
- Calcelmo's Ring Does not seem to exist after the associated quest anymore.
- Letter from a Friend Does not keep its special status after its quest anymore.
Newly discovered: The Hunting Bow(s) Lydia gets every time the Player dismisses and rehires her. Did not check with other follwers' huntin bows.
So I am adding these edits.
