Major expansion[edit]

I have started a rough draft of completed a major expansion of this quest page. Anyone interested in taking a look at it, please see: my sandbox for developing this revision. So far, this is just a very rough beginning. But feedback and questions of any kind are especially welcome at any point. --Jreynolds2Talk 10:33, 8 January 2012 (UTC) --Jreynolds2Talk 11:33, 9 January 2012 (UTC)

Quest Note Regarding Bandits in Tunnel[edit]

I cannot understand the intended meaning of this note on the quest page; or if I do, it's significance. Consider revising or deleting:

"Bandits in the first level of the tunnel will not follow you out to Skyrim, and will remain in the same initial positions when you enter the tunnel again."--Jreynolds2Talk 11:38, 9 January 2012 (UTC)

Stalleo's Family?[edit]

It should be noted on the quest page, that Stalleo mentions, that his family is still inside. You also can find a 'Trevors Watch Prison Key', but there is no family. At the start of fortress, shortly after entering via the escape tunnels you find a room with 3 dead bodies, named only 'Nord' and 'Imperial'. Is this the family? Why the key? Did I not find the prison or is the quest incomplete? — Unsigned comment by 80.109.117.209 (talk) at 14:40 on 19 October 2012‎

I added a note about him mentioning his family before you go in, the unnamed NPCs were addressed in the walkthrough already. There's nothing indicating whether or not they are his family. The quest is complete when you turn it into Stalleo. As for the key, I don't think it opens anything at all. — ABCface 16:33, 19 October 2012 (GMT)
The prison key you find in the prison opens the prison cells, but since there is nothing of interest inside the cells, it's only useful for preventing you from practicing your lockpicking. --5.144.61.172 09:58, 17 November 2013 (GMT)

No Spell Tome: Detect Life reward?[edit]

I specifically did this quest to get the tome because my Alteration was not high enough to purchase it, but I received nothing after completing it.  Is there some hidden condition?  I was level 44 at the time, with 34 Alteration (I think).  —Proton[talk] 20:13, 26 February 2013 (GMT)

Did you reach the point where Stalleo asks whether you found his family inside? Just curious. 76.185.59.21 21:39, 27 February 2014 (GMT)
I got a Spell Tome of Spectral Arrow from this. A bug? I'm level 38 warrior (magic stats are low). — Unsigned comment by JuneII (talkcontribs) at 02:38 on 8 January 2016 (UTC)
That spell was apparently supposed to be the reward for this quest, but it was changed to be Detect Life instead. You apparently have a mod or something that restores that spell as the reward for completing this quest. http://en.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Spectral_Arrow --Dragos Drakkar (talk) 05:38, 11 June 2017 (UTC)
A bit late of a response, but Arthmoor's Cutting Room Floor mod re-adds the Spectral Arrow spell tome. I don't know if any others do. Robin Hood  (talk) 06:12, 11 June 2017 (UTC)

Beartraps[edit]

Xbox user here; Vanilla game with latest patch installed. I was having a little explore on this playthrough and although I have completed this quest and cleared the dungeon on multiple occasions I have noticed that leaving the interiors and then re-entering(couple of attacks then a quick retreat for a higher combat diffulculty hehe) resets some if not all the beartraps. I have not attempted to find anymore interior beartraps to see if this is a one-off yet but I will update once I have done so. 86.175.215.221 20:19, 20 April 2013 (GMT)

Ha, totaly forgot that I still had an account here. Once I test my beartraps out then I'm off to see where my Liberty Hat of the HeadGear Club[1] has gone. XD Hydranakus (talk) 20:24, 20 April 2013 (GMT)
Only had a quick look into other areas with beartraps and I can not find any the instantly respawn if you leave the interiors. Please note that I have only done a quick five min test in other areas. Hydranakus (talk) 22:22, 21 April 2013 (GMT)

Bandit's conversation[edit]

There is a unique conversation between the bandits that probably only happens during this quest. Two bandits insult each other while a third one reprimands them mentioning Brurid, the one Stalleo said was behind the invasion. I'll try to transcript the conversation. Digus (talk) 23:16, 14 May 2015 (GMT)

"It's been forever since I've eaten so well."
"And it shows, I've seen horkers with smaller guts."
"Funny coming from a woman who's breath smells like she just kissed a draugr."
"Would you two shut up before Brurid hears you messing around."

Yes, I was coming back to write it but you already got it. It would be nice if this was on this quest page.
It's funny they have this conversation, although there is no character named Brurid inside the Treva's Watch , he might be one of the unnamed chiefs.Digus (talk) 00:27, 15 May 2015 (GMT)
All Skyrim dialogue is available in our CSList, its just a matter of having an idea where to look, and a reason to. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 00:46, 15 May 2015 (GMT)
Didn't know about the CSList, it's just that usually dialog related to the quest are on the quest's page, or the NPC page. But thanks for the info. CSList is a bit confusing, but I found the dialog. I'll try to use it if I happen to need that kind of info again.Digus (talk) 02:12, 15 May 2015 (GMT)

Quest Bug[edit]

I was sent to Treva's Watch for the quest Ancient Technology (don't know if it's radiant or not) and I saw Stalleo and his two bodyguards just outside the "escape tunnel" where they were already engaged in combat. I couldn't initiate dialogue with any of them (probably because they were in combat), so I ignored them and proceeded with the quest. Coming out the other end of the dungeon, I pulled the lever to activate the gate and leave, but Stalleo and co were nowhere to be found. I looked up a possible quest connection after the fact as I had stumbled onto them randomly. As far as I can tell there is no way for me to complete (or even start) this quest now. — Unsigned comment by 174.71.2.196 (talk) at 18:58 on 9 July 2015 (GMT)

What platform do you play on? If you play on PC, console commands can probably get you where you need to be, but if you're on Xbox or PS3, reloading a previous save would be your best bet. Zul do onikaanLaan tinvaak 19:29, 19 July 2015 (UTC)
I play the xbox 360 version and I haven't tried to reload a previous save. The quest isn't as important to me as my current save, but I thought I would point out what happened to me in case it happened to someone else.— Unsigned comment by 174.71.2.196 (talk) at 21:55 on 20 July 2015 (UTC)

Dead bodyguard[edit]

After taking the quest, when I enter through the escape tunnel and then into Treva's Watch proper, whenever I exit the castle, I find one of Stalleo's bodyguards (the archer) dead. He seeming just drops dead where he's sitting in camp-he isn't killed by the bandits. This happens whether I exit via the roof, or even it i go back through the tunnel and don't alert the exterior bandits. I've had this happen on two separate playthroughs on the 360. Anyone else experience this?--149.160.118.51 00:12, 21 October 2015 (UTC)

Misleading note?[edit]

If you clear out Treva's Watch before accepting the quest, you can complete it by closing and then reopening the lever. This may leave all objectives marked as incomplete. In my case, I cleared the fort during the Retrieval quest, then I approached Stalleo and started the Infiltration. Stalleo and bodyguards teleported inside the fort and quest was set at stage 60, so I didn't have to pull the lever again. --178.252.126.70 20:07, 29 January 2017 (UTC)

Stalleo's family not in Treva's Watch[edit]

It's obvious to me that Infiltration was originally meant to be the start of a longer, more involved questline. Stalleo has a lot to say about the bad blood between him and Brurid, the guy who kidnapped his family. The bandits also mention Brurid, but he's never seen. And Stalleo's family is not inside Treva's Watch.

The generic Nords and Imperial found as corpses are NOT Stalleo's family. I know this because when I finished Infiltration, Stalleo asked if his family had been inside. The only dialogue option I was given said No. Then Stalleo said that perhaps they escaped and that he would resupply and go looking for his family.

And the prison key didn't unlock the adept lock. I didn't think to test it on the novice lock and no longer have a save to try.104.15.180.18 04:46, 7 October 2017 (UTC)

It could equally be said that the quest wasn't fully finished, rather than the start of something. The bandits conversations imply that Brurid is present (see one of them above), as well as a specific (but broken) attempt by the quest to rename the bandit chief as Brurid. The bodies could be his family, or they could not be, the page does not make an assumption but states the fact that there are some bodies.
