"It is possible to steal these items, but Anise will send hired mercenaries to kill you"[edit]

I think that is triggered the first time you steal something from any named character, and has nothing to do with Anise in particular; it's just that Anise is very close to the exit from Helgen so she's quite likely to be the first. 124.170.15.129 17:31, 14 December 2011 (UTC)

Yes, sending mercenaries after the player is common to many NPCs, if one steals from them. See Steal, Thugs hunt player for more information. --Alfwyn 17:46, 14 December 2011 (UTC)
Right, that's exactly what I'm saying - I guess I'll remove that text from this page until someone provides evidence there's some special event related to this NPC. 124.170.15.129 04:31, 15 December 2011 (UTC)

Found dead at Embershard Mine[edit]

I found this npc dead outside the entrance of Embershard Mine, across the river from her cabin. In the game I was in I had not even discovered her cabin before her death. — Unsigned comment by 220.162.114.152 (talk) at 05:11 on 15 December 2011‎

It is possible that she was attacked by a wild animal and she fled across the river only to be killed by bandits. Either that or some kind of glitch.RIM 12:26, 23 December 2011 (UTC)

Anise / Moira Connection[edit]

Taking things from Anise's cabin sends thugs after you... but not from Anise, but from Moira. All known confirmations of this had never seen, heard of, or been to Moira's hut. Happened to me, girlfriend on her game, and four other people on Moira's discussion. Can we get a definitive "It is absolutely Moira's stuff in Anise's cabin" from somebody? --DaedalusMachina 05:45, 16 December 2011 (UTC)

Well, they're sisters. I guess it's radiant, in case Anise dies and you'd never be punished, the same way she sends an assassin if you kill Anise 82.243.194.53 12:02, 28 December 2011 (UTC)
IT says in the article that Anise will attack every time you exit the secret basement but she didn't attack me. I entered undetected and exited. When I clicked on her she just kept saying "It's so nice to have visitors." — Unsigned comment by 72.204.86.50 (talk) at 19:24 on 2 March 2012‎
No, she doesn't always send thugs after you, it's generic NPC behavior that may or may not happen. Vely►t►e 00:21, 12 January 2013 (GMT)
I also got a strange note from hired thugs sent by Moira, saying "make him pay for killing my dear Anise". There doesn't appear to be any connection between them, though.64.135.48.170 19:11, 7 May 2013 (GMT) — Unsigned comment by 64.135.48.170 (talk) at 19:11 on 7 May 2013‎
They are both in the Hagraven faction. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 01:41, 29 May 2013 (GMT)
I've found that if you steal from her, she generally sends thugs after you. If you kill her, her sister Moira (referenced in a letter you can steal from the basement) sends assassins after you. I have not experienced both events in quick succession during the same play-through, but I don't think there's anything stopping them from happening before you've had the chance to recover. So let that be a lesson to you: if you rob and murder an old woman at the beginning of the game, you may be hunted down by two different groups of toughs before you reach level ten.Black jack king (talk) 01:11, 5 February 2014 (GMT)
I checked in the creation kit. there is no recorded sibling relationship in the relationship section. Retroambassador (talk) 03:32, 8 August 2020 (UTC)

Her name an easter egg?[edit]

Im not sure this belongs on the page because I can't confirm it. But what I do know is Bethesda has no problem referencing other video games in their own. In Prinny: Can I Really Be the Hero?, one of the antagonists you may end up dealing with is named Anise. She's a witch. They call her "Anise, the cat witch." Here's the video: https://youtu.be/iE-wbIos1LE

Of all the things they could have possibly named a witch, I can't imagine a reason they would choose "Anise" unless it was a reference. Still, not willing to put it on the main easter egg page. 96.28.39.103 07:50, 19 November 2015 (UTC)

If you think something an easter egg, propose it on the Easter Egg Talk Page. But I think this is too much of a stretch. Both people share a name and cast spells, but that's where the similarities end. -- SarthesArai Talk 23:17, 21 November 2015 (UTC)

Disappearance?[edit]

If you break in the basement and run away from her attack after leaving it, on one of your next returns she might just have disappeared (1.9-ish 32-bit-version). — Unsigned comment by 46.223.163.139 (talk) at 15:33 on 25 January 2024
