Uniquely for the vampires discussed in this series, the so-called "Coldblood Clan" in fact consisted of only a single member, the renowned Nord Clever Man and weather mage Aemar Coldblood. After being infected with vampirism during his alchemical research, Coldblood attempted to create his own vampire kingdom using an ancient magical relic known as the Bloodfire Amulet as the symbol of his authority. However, while Coldblood was a skilled alchemist, his skill at enchanting was paltry at best, and he was unable to activate the amulet, earning the scorn of his rivals. Coldblood attempted to compensate for this failure by alchemically granting himself vampiric abilities otherwise unique to the Volkihar bloodline (see my prior research in Vampires of Skyrim: the Volkihar, Volumes I through XI, for further elaboration).

While the exact outcome of the experiments is unknown, records from that period refer to the ancient Nords as having slain a "frost vampire" whose very body emitted plumes of snow and sealing his remains in a crypt known as Iceblood Barrow. (Note to self, why is it called Iceblood if his epithet was Coldblood? Was he imitating an older, forgotten clan? Check up on that after I finish exploring the Barr
