Svargrim the Awakened is the reanimated remains of High King Svargrim, who ruled over Western Skyrim as an independent kingdom in the mid mid-second era.

Background

In life, he was a fierce defender of the western holds, from both the Reachmen to the south and the Ebonheart Pact to the east. When the Gray Host returned to life and set their sights on Solitude however, Svargrim made a bargain with their leader Rada al-Saran to be turned into a Vampire, in exchange for hindering efforts to stop their plans. His efforts would fail, and Svargrim would be slain by his own daughter Svana with the aid of several adventurers, saving the people of Solitude and the western holds from death and devastation as part of a plot to rescue and revive the Gray Host's leaders from Coldharbour.

Quest-related Events

Svargrim's body will be raised from the dead along with the other bodies in the catacomb as a result of the ritual performed by Amiable Northwode on orders from Viatrix Caerellia's plan to eliminate her rival Domna Magia. He will be found in the last area of the catacombs before the room where Domna and her thralls are searching for the Bloodfire Amulet, with three Frostbite Spiders hanging from the ceiling above.

Svargrim's soul is long gone at this point, and the body left behind fights more like a rabid animal than a Vampire Lord, despite remaining in this form. He will put up a fight with his claws on the ground and make use of basic vampiric magic, but he is nothing more than an obstacle on the way to the real target in the catacombs.
