Detailed Walkthrough[edit]
Fancy Meeting You Here[edit]
In a corridor to the northeast of Broken Wing I you will find an orc named Makor, whom you may recognize from the Rescue Prisoners quest. If you released him during your earlier encounter he will have a mission for you; if not, he will attack.
Your Mission, Should You Choose...[edit]
Makor explains that he is contemplating a career change because his leader has been working with individuals that even bandits consider unsavory, such as Pergan Asuul. He wants insurance before leaving and asks you to retrieve an effigy from a locked and trapped cell to the south. Makor gives you two Persa Flowers to help with the locks:
- (The orc starts to draw his weapon, then laughs)
- "I thought from what I saw of you in Delfran's Hideout you would be dead by now."
- That's gratitude for you.
- "Oh, I am grateful. Delfran's chef was to be the death of me.
Our leader has been working with sorts unsavory by ever our standards. Pergan Asuul for one." - Pergan Asuul?
- "Yeah, well... it is time for me to make a career change, but I need insurance before I leave."
- Ah...
- "There is an effigy in the locked and trapped cells south of here. I was on my way to get it, but you might have more luck... locks and I..." (Makor shrugs.)
- I will get the effigy.
- "Thank you. Here are two Persa Flowers to help you with the locks. Sell 'em if you don't need 'em."
- Okay.
An Image of Power[edit]
The cell containing the effigy is one of a block northeast of the portal to Ghast's Pass. Makor is exaggerating the protection on the cell door; it is locked, but not trapped, and the chest inside the cell isn't even locked. The effigy resembles a Spire Thief:
- Inside the chest is a small effigy resembling a Spire Thief.
A Man and his Doll[edit]
Return the effigy to Makor. He will tell you that it has power over the spire thieves but admit that he doesn't know it works. In return he gives you a Spell Web Thread in case, as he puts it, you have to go against the spire leader. He explains that it is only usable once, but it makes his magic attacks far less likely to hit you:
- "So this thing has some power over spire thieves... once I can figure out how to work it."
- (Makor grins broadly)
- "Of course... they don't know I don't know how to use it, so possession alone may keep them off my back.
Take this in case you have to go against the spire leader." - (Makor says, handing you a Spell Web Thread.)
- "It is only usable once, but it makes his magic attacks far less likely to hit you. I was keeping it in case I... well... doesn't matter now."
- (Makor taps your fist with his.)
- "Good luck, friend."
Makor then taps your fist with his and wishes you good luck. You receive 2400XP Points.
