Warlord Tzogvin is the Riekling chieftain of the Coldsnap Tribe that serves as the first boss of Frostvault. He has plundered the soul gem of the Dwemer Excavation Machine and must be killed so that it can be obtained. Landal attempts to negotiate with him, but as Tzogvin's tribe has just been slaughtered by your group, he responds to him only with contempt, and to you with violence.
At the start of the fight, he will use a dwarven warhammer to attack. At some point during the battle, he will throw it away and create a sword out of thin air and jump up, crashing back down and dealing damage. With his greatsword, he uses a variety of flame-based attacks. Later on, he will summon a battleaxe, which grants him access to frost-based attacks and cyclones. If at any point the group is wiped, he will sit back down on his makeshift dwemer throne.

Skills and Abilities[edit]
As a boss type enemy, Warlord Tzogvin is immune to all crowd control effects.
Initial Phase[edit]
The boss will begin the fight using a dwarven warhammer.
- Strike
- A basic melee attack that deals moderate physical damage.
- Rend Flesh
- Getting hit by Strike will deal minor physical damage over time.
- Colossal Smash
- A charged heavy attack that deals very high physical damage and knocks the target back. Block this if you are the tank or dodge it if you're not.
- Reckless Charge
- The boss will charge at far away targets dealing moderate physical damage. Block or dodge this, or stay near the boss to prevent this.
- Bola Ball
- The boss throws a Bola Ball at a random player causing a tether to appear between them and another player. As long as the tether is active, both players will take high magical damage over time. Run away from each other to break the tether, or roll dodge the ball to prevent the tether from forming initially. As of patch 6.3.5, this mechanic appears to be removed, or is extremely rare.
- Summon Goblins
- Throughout the fight, other Coldsnap goblins may join the encounter. They should be chained in and cleaved down quickly to simplify the fight.
Flame Phase[edit]
At 70% health, the boss will summon a bound sword. This phase usually begins with the Heat Field mechanic.
Heat Field mechanic[edit]
- Fire Pit
- The boss jumps leaving behind a pool of fire that deals moderate flame damage over time. Avoid this.
- Fiery Crash
- The boss lands on a random spot in the arena, dealing moderate flame damage and stunning all in his impact zone. There is no indication where he will land, so be ready to heal up.
- Heat Field
- The boss summons a shield around himself and flame AOEs will appear under each player dealing moderate flame damage over time as indicated by red circles. This damage will increase over time, and thus players will need to break the damage shield before the damage wipes the group. Players must also avoid stacking the AOEs around each other to reduce the damage done.
All attacks from the initial phase reappear as well afterwards.
- Flame Fissure
- When holding the sword, all Reckless Charge moves will also cause fire lines to spread out from under the boss dealing moderate flame damage.
Ice Phase[edit]
At 30% health, the boss will summon a bound battleaxe. This phase usually begins with the Whirlwind mechanic.
Whirlwind mechanic[edit]
- Whirlwind
- The boss stands in the middle of the arena and summons an expanding frost AOE that deals very high frost damage over time. Simply stick to the edge of the arena to avoid it.
- Raging Winds
- The boss summons an ice tornado that chases a player around dealing high frost damage over time. Simply keep moving to avoid it. There will be an indication message on your screen to show that you are the one being targeted. Leading this tornado into the three banners on the edge of the arena will net players an achievement.
- Cyclone
- Smaller ice AOEs will appear along the edge of the arena when Whirlwind is used. Avoid these smaller AOEs while hiding from the larger central AOE by running along the edge of the arena.
Afterwards, attacks from the initial phase will reappear.

Notes[edit]
- He shares much of the same animations as The Celestial Warrior when fought, including the same sword model as the Warrior's Shehai. Even when his sword is summoned, he uses the exact same spell to cast it, showing the same magical runes in the air.
- The original conversation between Tzogvin and Landal went somewhat differently:
-
- Landal Gevont: "Wait! It's their chieftain! I might be able to arrange a truce, maybe even a trade for the stone!"
- Landal Gevont: <Flattering goblin gibberish.>
- Warlord Tzogvin: <Furious Goblin gibberish.>
- Warlord Tzogvin: <Commanding Goblin gibberish.>
- Warlord Tzogvin: <Angry Goblin gibberish.>
- Landal Gevont: "Or you can just kill him. Nothing deranged about that."
- The throne he sits on is identical to the chair used by the Harmonic Auditor. This can be seen by the unnecessary life-support vest connected to it.
