Waking Flame Battlemage

Waking Flame Battlemages are Imperial and members of the Order of the Waking Flame. They can be found in various places around Blackwood during quests. Hostile battlemages are encountered while defending the Ambitions in Fort Redmane.

Skills and Abilities

Flare

A basic ranged attack that does minor flame damage.

Quick Strike

A basic melee attack that does minor physical damage.

Ice Cage

The battlemage summons a ring of frost around itself that does moderate frost damage over time to all players in the red circle.

Impending Storm

The battlemage charges up and releases lightning from itself as indicated by red circles. This attack does moderate shock damage to all enemies hit. This attack can be interrupted to set the battlemage off balance or simply avoided.

Empower Weapon: Flame

The battlemage infuse their weapon with flame which change their "Quick Strike" attack into a melee "Flare" attack.

Flare

The battlemage hits the target with their weapon while spinning, dealing minor flame damage.

Quest-Related Events

When you and Eveli Sharp-Arrow go to Bloodrun Cave to confront Elam Drals about the Dark Brotherhood's involvement in the deaths of the Elder Council members, you will both be ambushed by the true culprits—the Waking Flame. Making your way through the sanctuary, you will find some of the cultists maintaining a portal:

Waking Flame Battlemage: "Fall back! Close the portals! Warn the high priest!"

<Elam Drals appears behind him and slits his throat.>

Elam Drals: "Oh, I think not."

<He then turns to you.>

Elam Drals: "All right, what were we discussing before they so rudely interrupted us?"

Later, Eveli will kill two Waking Flame Battlemages in a single shot as they exit Leyawiin Castle from the barracks.
