Detailed Walkthrough[edit]
Zahshur is hidden at the end of a small path starting left of the entrance of Softloam Cavern. Purchase his Religious Fetish Statue for 150 gold, then activate it from your inventory. Once you do, you'll get the following message:
- "<This fetish carved from obsidian depicts an exaggerated female figure. The figure is marred by jagged slashes. The edges are sharp enough to draw blood.>
<It's unclear if the gashes are intentional or the product of poor craftsmanship.>" - I wonder where this came from?
Speak to Zashur and ask him about the statue.
- "How strange to see someone out here who's not part of my tribe."
- Where did this statue come from?
- "On the slope of the volcano to the southeast."
- Have you ever seen anything like it before?
- "My people find them in the wastes from time to time. Sometimes, a gullible outlander or houseman will assume they're art. No offense.
They might even give us gold for one." - Who could identify this?
- "I couldn't even begin to guess.
Tribunal priests like to think they're wise. Why not ask one? There's an acolyte serving the housemen in Kragenmoor, southwest of here."
He suggests you talk to a Tribunal priest about your inquiry and informs you there's one serving in Kragenmoor, the House Dres settlement down the hill southwest of your location.
You'll find Acolyte Raloro in the Grandmaster's Palace. Speak with him, and he mentions that someone named Haldyn Omavel was looking for an artifact matching this statue's description. You'll find him in the ruins on the plateau north of Kragenmoor, up the hill beyond Sheogorath's Tongue and the Lover stone. Haldyn seems surprised to see anyone this far out: he trips over his own words quite a bit. He's acting a bit shifty, and if you ask him about anything other than the statue, he nervously asks you to go somewhere else.
He perks up when you show him the statue, and excitedly pleads for you to give it to him. He promises that he'll reward you for the deed after he does what he came here to do. Once the statue is in his possession, he walks up to the ritual brazier in the center of the structure and kneels to pray.
- Haldyn Omavel: "Oh, come to me. Come to me, please."
A Winged Twilight will appear:
- Winged Twilight: "Who dares?"
- Haldyn Omavel: "Please, mistress. Hit me!"
- Winged Twilight: "As you wish."
The creature strikes him dead before vanishing. With no one left alive to give you your reward, all that's left to do is search Haldryn's pack.
- "<Haldyn's journal is filled with lurid and disturbing fantasies involving Daedra, clearly the work of a disturbed mind.>
<There are some shoddy clothes and pouches of gold. The author evidently used his life's savings to pursue his dream.>"

There must be someone in Stonefalls who can identify this figure.
Objective: Find Someone to Identify the Statue
I purchased the statue from Zahshur. He might know something about where it came from. Objective Hint: Ask Zahshur about the Statue
Zahshur said his people occasionally find these statues buried in the Ashlands. He insisted that he didn't know their purpose. He suggested I speak with a priest of the tribunal at Kragenmoor. Objective Hint: Talk to an Acolyte in Kragenmoor
I was told a Dark Elf named Haldyn Omavel was recently in the area searching for a statue. He's currently searching the Daedric ruins on the plateau south of Kragenmoor, overlooking Heimlyn Keep. Objective Hint: Talk to Haldyn Omavel

|
Haldyn Omavel promised me a huge reward for bringing him the fetish. He's eager to use his new prize, and he asked me to wait.
Objective: Observe Haldyn's Ritual
|
|
Haldyn Omavel summoned the Winged Twilight, but it killed him. He never gave me the reward he promised, but if I decide to search his bag, he's in no position to object [sic]
Objective: Search Haldyn's Bag

- Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
- Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in any order. Some stages may therefore repeat objectives seen in other stages.
