Reezal-Jul

Reezal-Jul is an Argonian necromancer working as Baron Wylon Montclair's personal advisor. He is responsible for the death of many in Rivenspire, more specifically the settlement of Crestshade. Prior to this, he worked for King Ranser as his court mage.

Shornhelm Divided[edit]

When you first see Reezal-Jul, he is opening reinforcement portals beneath the city, and sends lackeys to attack you before fleeing to his portal:

Reezal-Jul: "I have no time to deal with these fools. Kill them. Kill them all!"

Dream-Walk Into Darkness[edit]

When you first properly meet Reezal-Jul, he is fruitlessly working on medicine for Baroness Leila Montclair's ailment at the Baron's behest in Verandis's memories.

If you agree on getting the shard for him, you will end the first memory immediately:

"This is hopeless! Baron Montclair forces me to mix concoctions that I know won't do any good.
If he'd just listen to me, I could show him exactly how to heal his wife and end her suffering."
What are you talking about?
"I am talking about knowledge and ancient magic. I am talking about the forgotten arts of the Ayleids themselves.
Would you deny our lady any chance for a cure, no matter what the source?"
I want to see the Baroness healed with all my heart.
"I happen to possess an Ayleid relic—or at least a shard from one. But the Baron won't listen to me, especially since our lady started refusing my help.
If I give you this stone, will you present it to the Baron? He listens to you, my friend."
Get the shard. I'll convince Wylon to use it.
"I knew I could count on you, Verandis Ravenwatch."

In the next memory, he will be found downstairs looking at a stone on the table. If you speak to him before Verandis:

"Ah, Count Verandis. So good to see your striking visage again."

You can speak with him in the next memory, after you touch the stone on the table:

Reezal-Jul: "The stone reacts differently to you, Count. How remarkable."

The baroness will mention the relic fragment only temporarily staves off her condition and will request you to speak to Reezal-Jul if he has found out more information about effects of the fragment:

"Fascinating, isn't it? To think that such a tiny rock could hold so much power. Can you feel it? It's like it's calling to me. Like the moons call to the tides.
Imagine what the relic it came from could do!"
Why didn't you give the stone to Montclair? Why have me do it?
"The Baron wasn't listening to me. We needed. We needed someone he trusted more, had more faith in. That someone was you, Count Verandis.
Now the Baroness is on the mend and House Montclair has returned to a state of contented bliss."
The stone isn't enough. Leila is still sick.
"Well, that's unfortunate. But it is only a small piece of a grander relic, isn't it?
I've been studying the Ayleid manuscripts. There may be more we can do for the poor Baroness."
Spit it out, Argonian, and speak plainly.
"I found the stone among the effects of King Ranser's royal historian, back when I served in Ranser's court. She had quite an intriguing collection, including the Ayleid manuscripts that I've been translating.
Perhaps you can check my work?"
Where are the Ayleid manuscripts?
"The manuscripts are locked away, but I left my notes in your library. A few phrases stood out as I translated—Life, Death, Crag. I'm sure they mean something.
Take a look and see what you think. Perhaps the text can lead us to a greater relic."

Speaking to him before reading the manuscript:

"Inspect my notes, Count Verandis. See if you can find a clue that I overlooked. We need to work together to save the Baroness."

If you speak to him after reading the manuscript, he will say:

"The secret to curing the Baroness lies with this stone shard and the Ayleid relic it once belonged to."'

Reezal-Jul will appear again in the third memory. He will accompany the Montclair family to the top of the Doomcrag. The group will fight off the undead and once all the skeletons have been dispatched, the group will continue to advance to the crag.

During the third memory, the Montclairs are climbing the Doomcrag. If you speak to him along the way, he'll only say:

"The power we seek is close! I can feel it!"

Once at the Remnant, the family will begin the ritual to try to save Leila. Unbeknownst to the Montclairs, Reezal-Jul intended on this ritual to gain power at the expense of the Montclairs:

Baron Wylon Montclair: "Have no fear, my darling Leila. Soon the light will wash away your pain."
Reezal-Jul: "It's going to work, Baron. The power of this ancient Ayleid remnant … it's almost overwhelming."
Lleraya: "You're going to be all right, Mother. Just hold on."
<The Remnant begins to activate>
Baron Wylon Montclair: "The remnant will make you like new, my love! You'll be reborn!"
Lleraya: "Something's … happening. I feel … the power!"
Baroness Leila Montclair: "Wylon! Something feels … wrong …."
Baron Wylon Montclair: "Verandis, we need you! We need your power! Quickly! Touch the relic and help us!"
<Verandis adds his power to the ritual.>
Baron Wylon Montclair: "Anyamis alata! Malatua latta mitta jorane mori!"
Baron Wylon Montclair: "Vasha anya belda sancre!"
Lleraya: "Father … what … what's happening to us?"
Reezal-Jul: "It's working! It's working! Soon the power will be ours to command!"
<The Baroness turns into a bloodfiend>
Baroness Leila Montclair: "No! What … what have you done? This isn't me! I … I never wanted this!"
Baroness Leila Montclair:' "Please, Verandis. Help me! Make it stop! I … I can't stand the pain."
Baroness Leila Montclair: "End this, Verandis. End this before I … arrgh!"
<Verandis kills Leila>
Baron Wylon Montclair: "No! Verandis! What did you do to Leila? What did you do?"
Baron Wylon Montclair: "You'll pay for that, vampire! I have the power now. Nothing can stop me from reaching out and snapping …."
<Baron Montclair uses his newfounded vampiric powers on Verandis, which stuns him and is about to do the finishing blow before Gwendis teleports in to take Verandis away to safety.>
Gwendis: "Verandis? Montclair, no! Come on, Verandis, we need to get out of here!"

At the end of Shadowfate Cavern, Reezal-Juul is found levitating in front of an altar (that has his journal on top). Countess Tamrith will charge in demanding Reezal-Jul to let her sister go:

Reezal-Jul: "Feast, my children! Feast on bones and blood!"
Countess Eselde Tamrith: "If you hurt my sister, I'll kill you myself!"

When entering combat, he will summon a Zombie:

Reezal-Jul: "Arise, my children! Attack!"

Once he is killed, proceed through the cave to find Captain Janeve.

He dual-wields daggers. He can empower himself, visible with a blue glow around his hands. He summons zombies during battle.

Quick Strike
A basic melee attack that does minor physical damage.
Whirlwind
The enemy spins around, doing moderate physical damage to all players as indicated by a red circle. Blocking will reduce the damage taken.
Assassinate
The enemy strikes at the player's back for moderate physical damage. This attack can only be performed if the enemy is behind the player, and Assassins will often leap to get behind the player. Ensure your character is facing the enemy at all times to prevent this.
