The Perception Tabulator is a device used to take readings in The Shadow Cleft. It was to be used by Initiate Favar to collect data for Adjunct Daro, but he left it behind and it's now up to you to take it into the Cleft and perform the readings.

When you use the tabulator at the gate in the southwest corner of the map, it may say any of the following:
- "This ancient gate consists of seven thousand, eight hundred, and ninety-three individual bricks, three of which are loose."
- "Definitely Breton in style, but composed of the miasma of Oblivion instead of fire-baked clay."
- "This gate may serve as a sort of fulcrum for Daedric magic. Data stored for later analysis."
When you use the tabulator at the ruin in the northwest corner of the map, it may say any of the following:
- "Blood soaked into the ruined stonework marks this as a place of vile worship and sacrifice."
- "Perception receptors indicate dark magic at work. Caution is advised."
- "A dark and rusty gear turns in these ancient ruins."
When you use the tabulator at the cottage in the central part of the map, it may say any of the following:
- "The decrepit structural condition and lack of roof indicates that maintenance in this pocket realm is sorely lacking."
- "A lonely cottage in a dark, forsaken wood …. Nothing ominous to see here."
- "Perception receptors indicate a primitive book of paper and ink somewhere within the confines of the wrecked cottage."
