The way is clear to the mill. You'll find safety there.

"The mill. Of course.
Well, if I do run into any hostile creatures along the way, they'll regret the day they decided to invade our village!"

With no help from you. Now get to the mill—it's safe there.

"The mill. Of course. That's a good idea.
Hey, I wanted to help. I did. I … just … oh, never mind. I'm going."

He'll then run towards the mill. Back at the mill:

"I still don't know what happened out there. I've never felt fear like that before.
I just froze. Sorry about any trouble I gave you back there."
