An Aldmeri spy drinks from Sanguine's Goblet
Spies from the Aldmeri Dominion have infiltrated Sanguine's celebration. Seducer Trilvath gave me Sanguine's goblet and wants me to find the spies.

Quick Walkthrough[edit]

  1. Talk to Seducer Trilvath
  2. Find three Aldmeri spies, and make them drink from Sanguine's goblet.
  3. Return to Seducer Trilvath.

Detailed Walkthrough[edit]

A map of potential Aldmeri spy locations. Some may be missing.

Speak to Seducer Trilvath to start the quest:

"Welcome to Lord Sanguine's celebration, mortal. My lord requires you to perform a simple task. But have no fear, it will benefit us both."
What do you need?
"I see that Aldmeri spies have infiltrated the celebration. Sanguine welcomes all, but all must partake of his drink. If these spies wish to remain, they must drink from Sanguine's goblet. Then they will be bound to the party."
How does this concern me?
"I need something done, and I want you to do it. Besides, these spies threaten your Pact.
Find the Aldmeri spies, make them drink from Sanguine's goblet, and I will reward you."
I'll find the Aldmeri spies.

Sanguine's Demesne is filled with hostile Dremora and Ogrim who will need to be fought through to locate the spies. Their locations will be randomised, so look around to find them. Depending on which spy you're speaking to, you can use the Persuasive Will or Intimidating Presence skills to coerce them with minimal effort. Alternatively, if you don't have the skills or simply prefer a more violent party, you can pick an alternate line of dialogue to engage them in combat; once they're defeated, they'll take a drink.

One is stubborn, and will not be open to negotiation.

"What do you want?"
You're going to drink this, one way or another.
"You're welcome to try, Ebonheart dog."
Prepare to feel pain, spy!

Finishing your conversation, they will engage you in combat. Once their health is lowered, they will forfeit and cry out one of the following:

Aldmeri Spy: "Please, no more! I'll take a drink!"
Aldmeri Spy: "Stop! I give up! Give me the bottle, I'll drink it!"
Aldmeri Spy: "All right, you win! I'll drink, I'll drink!"

With that, the spy will again drink from the goblet before running away.

Another can be coerced into joining the celebration.

"Oh, hello. You're going to hurt me, aren't you?"
That depends. Our host wants you to drink this.
"Please, I don't want to drink that!"
Too bad. Let's get this over with.

They will then become hostile, at which point you will have to attack until their health is low, at which point they will stop and beg for mercy the way the previous spy did. Alternatively, they may be intimidated.

[Intimidate] Take a sip or take a beating. Your choice.
"(?)"

Either way, they will drink from the goblet before running off.

Yet another will be doing a poor job of hiding the fact they are a spy.

"Enjoying the party, fellow Ebonheart Pact citizen?"
You're a spy, and I'm going to make you drink this!
"No, thank you. I'd rather not drink anything in a Daedric temple."
You will drink this, even if I have to pour it down your throat.

[verification needed — attacks like the others?]

[Persuade] If you don't drink, everyone will know you're a spy.

They will then take a drink from the goblet and leave like the others.

Once you've coerced three spies into enjoying Sanguine's refreshments, return to Trilvath and speak to her to complete the quest:

"My agents tell me that three new souls have joined the celebration."
The spies drank from the goblet.
"Excellent! My Lord Sanguine will be pleased.
You have the stench of Molag Bal upon you, but you did as I asked. Thank you, mortal."

Notes[edit]

  • Despite your alliance, you will always be referred to as a member of the Ebonheart Pact during this quest. This happens even if you do not have Cadwell's Silver or Cadwell's Gold active.
    • This makes the quest especially strange if your character is a member of the Aldmeri Dominion, since your dialogue options are less than positive towards them, to put it mildly.
  • The dialogue each spy has and the response given after being beaten in battle appears to be randomized, meaning you can encounter three spies all saying the same dialogue, and saying something completely different after being defeated in battle different dialogue after
  • After you finish this quest Sings-With-Drink will apear on your compass.

* Any text displayed in angle brackets (e.g., <Alias=LocationHold>) is dynamically set by the game and will be filled in with the appropriate word(s) when seen in game.
  • Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
  • Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in any order. Some stages may therefore repeat objectives seen in other stages.
