Quest Related Events[edit]
Breaking the Ward[edit]
If you choose to deliver the message to him:
- "As ugly as things may be out here, I heard a rumor that our real worries are inside the city. Someone said they're holding the Staff of Magnus in there. If that thing fell into the wrong hands ... well, I've heard it could destroy the Dominion."
- Dinwenel sent me. She said you could use some help.
- "I knew she wouldn't forget me! I hope things are going better for her then [sic] they are for me."
Retaking the Pass[edit]
If you haven't started the quest yet and approach him:
- "Help shore up these walls or we're all dead."
Speaking to him:
- "It's ugly and getting uglier out here. As our living soldiers fall, the ranks of the dead swell. At this rate, we'll all be fighting for the other side by tomorrow's dawn.
And that's not even the worst part." - What is the worst part?
- "It's Prince Naemon. Poor old boy's been raised from the dead himself. But he's not himself … no trace of the hero Ayrenn says he was in life.
He's pure evil now, and from what we can tell he's the one leading the undead army." - Why is he attacking here?
- "I haven't a clue … and I don't have time to worry about it. We need to focus on the living, not the dead.
Mane Akkhuz-ri and several soldiers are stranded in the old merchant tunnel up the northern path. Think you could get to them?" - I think so. I can certainly try.
After agreeing to help you can get more info:
- "If you see any soldiers in need, help them out. Any one who falls … the Heritance will just raise them to fight against us.
But the most important thing is getting to the Mane though. He dies here, that's one more blow to the Dominion." - Where is Prince Naemon now?
- "I don't know. I haven't seen him myself, but I can't tell you how many soldiers have fled from the forest terrified and bewildered, mumbling to themselves about Naemon.
To hear them tell it, the prince … or whatever he's become … is everywhere."
- "I don't know. I haven't seen him myself, but I can't tell you how many soldiers have fled from the forest terrified and bewildered, mumbling to themselves about Naemon.
- Who is raising your fallen soldiers as undead?
- "Not long ago, I heard Naemon was leading them, then he died, and I heard that wasn't true, that he was a hero. Now, I don't know what in Oblivion to believe!"
- How did the Mane wind up getting stranded?
- "After the death of the Silvenar, the Mane came to offer his condolences … and his assistance to Valenwood.
Then this mess started. He led a scouting patrol into the old merchant tunnels, but they got cut off. It's possible they've all been killed."
- "After the death of the Silvenar, the Mane came to offer his condolences … and his assistance to Valenwood.
If you return to the northern gates of Marbruk before speaking with Indaenir outside of the Old Imperial Checkpoint, you'll find that the defenders have made progress pushing back the undead. Bodring will be with Mane Akkhuz-ri. Speaking to him:
- "You're making good progress. We've pushed forward this far due to your help. It won't be long before we can retake the rest of the area."
After assisting Indaenir, you'll find the Bodring back at the gates to Marbruk with the Mane:
- "I can't believe my eyes. The undead are actually receding. For a while there, I thought we were making a last stand here.
I'm betting it wasn't our brilliant tactics that drove them away though. Conquering Marbruk wasn't their top priority, was it?" - No. Naemon seeks to corrupt all of Valenwood.
- "Then it's as the Mane suggested. Magical forces are at work here that we can't fight with sheer numbers. I shouldn't be surprised.
I'm just glad we have you and Indaenir on our side to sort this out. Yes. I think maybe Y'ffre smiles on us after all."
Shades of Green[edit]
If you have not completed Right of Theft or The Blight of the Bosmer, he'll say:
- "I wish this victory didn't feel so hollow. Other than keeping the undead at bay, it seems there's little we can do to battle this darkness.
We are here to support you and Indaenir though, if you need us. Are you going to rejoin him now?" - I don't know where he is. He said he would find me.
- "That's Indaenir for you—always trying to shoulder all the burden himself. We can't let him get away with that though.
There's whispers that Naemon's actually been raised as a lich, and if that's the case, Indaenir's definitely going to need you." - Where did you hear this about Naemon becoming a lich?
- "One of the Spinners said Naemon was a lich and was at Hectahame. You and Indaenir should go there too when time allows.
For now though, Indaenir's bound to be in Verrant Morass or Dread Vullain. You should catch up with him—he needs you." - All right. I'll go look for Indaenir.
If you have completed all of Indaenir's other quests, he'll say instead:
- "Indaenir's a real piece of work, isn't he? I always thought he was half-mad. They say he has "the Green" in his blood, but most things that man does, I just don't understand.
Recently though, I've realized just how fortunate we are to have him." - Where did Indaenir come from?
- "Mad as he is, I thought he came from the Bramblebreach Clan, but some said it was Woodhearth. Truth is, no one knows.
Even heard he was raised by an old Graht Oak, cradled in its roots, weaned on the dew from its leaves. He's a mystery, all right."
Striking at the Heart[edit]
Bodring will be among the onlookers outside Hectahame.
- "Indaenir's in there. I hope whatever luck guided you at the Pass watches over you now."
Later, after the defeat of Naemon, he can be found inside:
- "Looks like you took care of Naemon. Greenshade is safe now."
