Dialogue[edit]
You can speak with him in the garrison.
- "Lord Arkay, guide my mace, that I might smite your enemies. Guide my steps on the path of the righteous, then give me rest at last."
- Praying to the Eight Divines?
- "Praying? Yes, I suppose you could call it that. I'm praying for an end to this nightmare—the chance to finally put down my mace and leave this madness behind.
I don't expect my prayers will be answered. " - So you're just going to give up?
- "No, I will never give up, as long as the enemies of Arkay stalk these streets. I will smash them, one by one, until I can fight no more.
I will not give up, but let's just say that after all I've seen, I'd welcome death's respite."
After discovering that he's immortal, you can ask him further questions.
- "So you've discovered our dark secret. Be glad you are not among us. It is an unnatural burden—one that I carry with great anxiety."
- Are you disturbed by your immortality?
- "Disturbed? No. Resigned, I think.
I do not know what I did to displease Lord Arkay or earn this curse. All I can do is smite his enemies and hope that, some day, he releases me from it." - You consider being immortal a curse?
- "Lord Arkay's dictates are clear. He does not tolerate necromancy, nor does he suffer the dead to rise. What am I now, if not a dead man risen? I have become what I despise.
Make no mistake, this is a curse. All I can do is fight … and pray."
