Oblivion talk:Water Breathing
Water Breathing Duration[edit]
Just a little question- what affects your amount of breath when you're swimming? Does it improve each time you level up?--Willyhead 15:01, 9 September 2007 (EDT)
- I've been looking into this recently but it's definitely affected by something. My current level 2 character can only spend about 30 seconds underwater but my level 52 can spend about two minutes. I don't know what affects it though. --RpehTalk 15:39, 9 September 2007 (EDT)
- My bet is on either max fatigue, max health or your lvl, but I'm only guessing.--Willyhead 16:29, 9 September 2007 (EDT)
- I believe (and i would appreciate someone testing it), that ENDURANCE affects your "breath." I have noticed that when i make characters with high endurance (i tend to make it a priority for high hit-points/level) they tend to be able to hold breath longer than even wizard/thief hybrids (with both good agility and willpower, which both contribute to fatigue). — Unsigned comment by Limduhl (talk • contribs) at 15:58 on 9 April 2009

(←) I have a lvl 59 character with everything maxed, he could spend 3 minutes 23 seconds underwater. Defender of Lainlyn 04:30, 13 January 2010 (UTC)
- Its probably affected by your fatigue total, could someone test that? — Unsigned comment by 124.187.13.25 (talk) at 03:38 on 29 March 2011

- Okay so I did some testing with 2 characters. My level 56 character with 100 endurance could last around 37 seconds and when boosted to 120 endurance with enchantments he lasted around 43, the gauge was also noticeably slower to drain. My level 12 character however who has 90 endurance lasted around 33 seconds, only slightly less than my level 56 character who has about 400 more health, more than double the fatigue and is 44 levels higher. Based on this I think we can be almost certain that your water breathing gauge is only affected by endurance, nothing more, as the difference would have been huge. Another one solved I think! The Fin Gleam helmet[edit]
Is it possible to get Fin Gleam without any magic or item assistance? I'd like to know because I lost my Jewel of the Rumare, and I'd really like a water breathing item back. (Gromir the Wasted)24.2.171.37 20:21, 28 May 2008 (EDT)
- Yes. You just have to know where it is. You could always use a potion if you don't have a magic item though. –Rpeh•T•C•E• 04:41, 29 May 2008 (EDT)
Drowning creatures[edit]
It says in the article that creatures appear to be able to breath underwater, but I'm sure I've drowned an orge at least once by a combination of damage fatigue and paralyse spells.
It also might be worth mentioning that NPC can drown.— Unsigned comment by 85.210.179.200 (talk) at 20:03 on 13 October 2009
- All land creatures except those with specific water breathing qualities and liches can be drowned. Defender of Lainlyn 04:32, 13 January 2010 (UTC)
