Oblivion talk:Roleplaying Ideas
Ruler?[edit]
What happened to the ruler roleplays? Most of my ideas are ruler roleplays and without that category I'm out most of my ideas. I wrote the Orcish Warlord and Champion of Cyrodiil and lots of other roleplay like them. The don't really fit as anything but a ruler and I think we need that back. We shortened our roleplaying pages way too much. I copied and pasted every one onto my page because I wanted to keep them but now I don't no where to put my knew ones. Process Changes[edit]
Well, we figured the process wouldn't be perfect, and we were right. Now that we've been using the new Roleplaying Ideas system for a while, we've discovered one moderate kink that needs to be ironed out: the [edit] button for each roleplay section tries to edit the Roleplaying template itself instead of the section. I asked around, and as I'd suspected, due to the way wikis work, there's no way around this with our current process other than removing the edit button altogether (which is what I've done currently to stop people accidentally trying to edit the template).
To fix the problem, I'd like to suggest that we change our process slightly to remove the automatic title from the {{Roleplaying}} template and instead have the user enter the subject themselves, just as they would with a talk page comment. In conjunction with that, I would change the "Create Your Own Roleplaying Idea" button to simply add a new section to the user's Roleplaying Ideas page, rather than creating a whole new page. This, of course, has the advantage of making it even easier to create multiple roleplays...just click the button and fill in the name and subject. (Due to a bug or limitation of inputbox when used with Special:MyPage, we can't create a box that'll fill in the Subject automatically.)
In conjunction with the fix, I'd also suggest we do a courtesy-fix of all existing calls to the template. Since there are so few, I think just doing them by hand would be sufficient, which I'm quite willing to do.
Can anybody see any issues with this, or are there any objections? – Robin Hood↝talk 03:26, 12 October 2010 (UTC)
- I'm loving this new suggestion, as it just requires a user to push the button and edit. A courtesy fix sounds good too. I'm not seeing any problems with this, just that we will have to state on the page that users have to fill in their own section. -- Jplatinum16 02:07, 13 October 2010 (UTC)
- Forgot to mention that I did this yesterday. – Robin Hood↝talk 04:59, 16 October 2010 (UTC)
