Doh! Finding those wrist irons again?[edit]

I only now understand why something like wrist irons would matter, but of course when I was first starting the game, I had no clue and probably dropped them somewhere. Possibly in the sewers where you begin the game. I'd love to have them back for enchanting. Is there any chance they would still be there if I go back and search, or do things like that disappear after a while? (I'm up to level 7 or so now, to give you an idea of how long it's been.) — Unsigned comment by 67.174.121.228 (talk)

You can get a new pair, just go to jail. 66.63.86.156 17:39, 12 April 2008 (EDT)
No you can't. You'll appear in jail, but you'll be wearing the sack cloth pants, shirt, and the sandals that you started out in. The wrist irons are a one time opportunity, and it is very easy to pass by them, especially if you are a new player. I'd say don't bet on finding those wrist irons again on that character. After you deliver the amulet or start one of the Dark Brotherhood quest, the cells reset. Vesna 20:29, 12 April 2008 (EDT)

If you can't find your way back to where you think you left them, or it is too late due to a reset, if you have the plug-ins for either "The Vile Lair" or "Mehrune's Razor", each one of those gives you a chance to find some more, but just one each. They can also be found in the Testing Hall. As for being arrested, I've found that instead of getting a suit of clothes with the words "Sack" & "Cloth" in their names, you get a "Shirt", a pair of "Shoes", and a pair of "Pants". To my eyes they do look the same as the "Sack Cloth" set and the "Tattered" set though. On a personal note, I've taken to collecting a set from each jail, as I label the clothes I get, by enchanting them, and I name each set after the jail so as to keep track of each jail my character has been jailed in.Leo Star Dragon 1 00:18, 28 November 2008 (EST)

I also thought i found them on Earil in the SI. Can anyone confirm this? --Oblivion Lover 19:42, 18 December 2008 (EST)
No, he doesn't wear any. –RpehTCE 03:55, 19 December 2008 (EST)

Are wrist Irons dupeable?I can't seem to dupe them with scrolls but can i dupe em with the skull of corruption glitch?
Hi! I don't know about that method and/or technique. But here is one that I do know works for sure. If you have a pair to begin with, somehow equip them on an NPC of your choice, or one that will let you do so, whichever works best for you. Once the NPC is equipped with the Wrist Irons, or at least has them in his or her Inventory, open the Console and use the Console Command, "CreateFullActorCopy". Of course, make sure that you click on the correct NPC as you do that. Once the clone appears use the best method that you have access to, to retrieve the clone's Inventory items, which should include the coveted Wrist Irons. Once the NPC has been looted, delete it. Repeat process as necessary and/or needed for more. By the way, this works for any item! Leo Star Dragon 1 00:45, 2 July 2011 (UTC)P.S.: Oh yeah! Cloning your Player Character also duplicates everything that your PC has too. Leo Star Dragon 1 03:12, 14 October 2011 (UTC)

Wrist Irons can be duplicated by using the Skull of Corruption. Tried and tested. Rider4ever38 (talk) 12:01, 15 October 2023 (UTC)

Screenshots[edit]

Would it be possible to get some screen shots of the items? Someone could do all rings, someone else could do trousers.. it would only take several years. But seriously, would do you guys think? Sadly it's not something I can help with otherwise I'd do it myself. Major Tom 05:41, 23 April 2009 (EDT)

I don't think it's worth doing for jewelry, but for clothing we could use the shots of NPCs that are currently being done then link from the items to NPC pages. –RpehTCE 06:13, 23 April 2009 (EDT)
Yeah that sounds like a good idea. Or maybe just link to the image of the NPC for the ease of it? Drop me a message and I'll help out Major Tom 12:43, 12 August 2009 (UTC)
rpeh, are you ducking from creating more images? ;) It sounds like a good reason to pick up the camera again. I agree that jewelry isn't that interesting (it all looks very similar), but clothing is. --Timenn-<talk> 11:35, 13 August 2009 (UTC)
True, but clothing only takes its shape when added to the player or an NPC. Taking pictures of the clothing away from an NPC will end up with lots of pictures like this, which I will freely admit is a rather ugly image. –rpehTCE 11:50, 13 August 2009 (UTC)
I was referring to dressing up Bendu Olo (and his female twin) in all those outfits. Since Oblivion has only two body models, they will look the same for all players anyway.
Just like the armor page? That's a good idea. --Darth NANAME 16:36, 13 August 2009 (UTC)
Precisely. Something like that. --Timenn-<talk> 08:11, 14 August 2009 (UTC)
I know this is kind of an old conversation, but I think screenshots would be a good thing. I always like to have clothing on when I'm in towns, so I spend quite a bit of time in the game looking for something that looks good on my character... O.o If you don't have the time to make screenies, that's cool - just saying it'd be a good idea for a future if anyone is ever bored. :3 (StrawberryFlower 00:44, 27 February 2010 (UTC))
I wouldn't mind taking this on, if someone can decide the best way of formatting it. There are ALOT more clothing options in Oblivion so the format used in the Morrowind Clothing section would be extremely cluttered if used here. If I understand correctly Rpeh was saying to change the item name into a direct link to a picture already in the database of someone wearing it? If so, that's about the only way I see doing it but it also leads to alot of clicking back and forth for someone looking at those items. Any ideas? KamekoHaru 19:18, 23 February 2011 (UTC)
Hello! Please pardon me for being tardy to this topic. But if you want convenient, one-stop shopping as they say, for making screenshots of items, going to the "Testing Hall" will save you a lot of trouble. Why? Because the items are on display therein, on tables, arranged by ensembles. Meaning that you can see for yourself how they intended players to combine shoes, pants/skirts, and shirts/blouses, et al, because they are displayed together. Meanwhile, pieces with nothing to match to, are alone. The jewelry is also displayed, on two seperate tables. Just one screenshot of each table and you will have them. Just add arrows with names to indicate what is what! Ta-dah! I hope that was helpful to at least one person. Leo Star Dragon 1 03:20, 14 October 2011 (UTC)

What does it look like?[edit]

What does the King of Worm's hood look like? I know it's not in game, but it's listed, so I assume someone with the PC version could use a console code to give themselves one and see what it looks like.— Unsigned comment by 99.135.146.239 (talk) on 18 January 2010

Rather like a Necromancer's Hood. I'm not sure if it's exactly identical, but it looks similar to say the least. SDarktimesX5 22:15, 18 January 2010 (UTC)

It is black with a red seam. 124.181.33.85 14:19, 30 March 2010 (UTC)

Random Slaughter Fish[edit]

(moved to Oblivion talk:Tutorial#Random Slaughter Fish)

Getting otherwise inaccessible clothing[edit]

Note: This clothing has to be on an NPC or Humanoid. So you can't get the Child's Overalls with this glitch.

It is very simple, do the permanent Bound Armour and reverse-pickpocket it onto the NPC and PRESTO! It can also help with non-essential NPCs to keep them alive for longer. E.G. If you want the Emperor's Robes and Shoes, you can reverse pickpocket a full set of Bound Armour and a Bound Sword onto Martin, so you can have his otherwise inaccessible Robes and Shoes and he can have his Bound Armour and Bound Sword and can live longer. Golden Eagle 12:16, 14 May 2010 (UTC)

White Mage's Robe[edit]

Minor nitpick here but the article describes it as "Common Upper-Class clothing" yet there's only one for sale and only a handful of NPCs can be found wearing them. Wouldn't "Somewhat rare" be more appropriate? — Unsigned comment by 174.0.106.101 (talk) at 12:00 on 28 May 2010

Good catch, thanks! I've updated the page. Robin HoodTalk 18:40, 28 May 2010 (UTC)

Wrist Irons Behavior[edit]

On my magic using character I do not use armor, so I kept the Wrist Irons from the start. I was doing the Court of Madness quests, and in Dunroot Burrow I picked up the Wrist Irons there. I observed some weird behavior with having two pairs at once. Uneqipping one pair caused the other to cease to be. This included them being replaced in the wrist slot (in this case with an Order Priest Robe) and dropped or put into a container. On the other hand, dropping or placing into a container the unequipped pair caused no problems. Equipping the unequipped pair though caused one pair to cease being. Any reason for this behavior? --DKong27 Talk Cont 23:56, 25 June 2010 (UTC)

Maybe because the character (you) was scripted to only have one? I don't know; I'm just guesstimating. Dragonman0007

Shoes Section vs. Shoes Entry[edit]

The Shoes entry in the Shoes section creates a conflict when using the link Oblivion:Clothing#Shoes. Does anybody have a preference as to how to handle this? I think the best way is probably to change the section name to "Footwear". Whatever we do, we'll then have to track down any sub-page links and figure out what was intended. Robin Hoodtalk 23:12, 4 July 2010 (UTC)

Couldn't we just change the header to Shoes/Footwear - like the Pants/Trousers section? As far as I can tell the only conflicting item is the prison shoes. Of course, and without really knowing how the linkable entries work, it would probably take a RoBot to make the changes on all the NPC pages? --Krusty 06:24, 5 July 2010 (UTC)
I'm going to guess that the only thing linking to the item is this redirect, although I'll get RoBoT to confirm that in a couple of days. If that's the case then we can tweak the {{Linkable Entry}} and add a second name, such as ShoesItem as an invisible anchor. The redirect can then point there instead. rpeh •TCE 07:43, 5 July 2010 (UTC)
I'd rather change the section name, just so the Linkable Entry name is the same as the item name, but it's not really a big deal either way. It'll also depend how many hits RoBoT comes back with, if there are any besides the redirect, and where they were intended to point to. Robin Hoodtalk 01:43, 6 July 2010 (UTC)
Okay, this is done now. I changed all instances of [[Oblivion:Clothing#Shoes...]] to [[Oblivion:Shoes...]] and then just fixed the section-header and redirect.
@rpeh: If you have a few minutes, can you verify that HotnBOThered caught everything? This is the first test of that code, though it's fairly close to the Template Links code other than the blasted(insert numerous additional expletives here) Regex. Robin Hoodtalk 22:34, 19 July 2010 (UTC)
Okay, of the 272 pages that link directly to Oblivion:Clothing, only Oblivion:Shoes and this page link to #Shoes, which is as it should be. rpeh •TCE 13:08, 20 July 2010 (UTC)
Great, thanks for the check. Robin Hoodtalk 07:19, 21 July 2010 (UTC)

Clothing That Looks The Same[edit]

I had previously reverted a bunch of changes that basically said "this item looks the same as that item", but I see they've been re-inserted. Is this particularly notable or interesting to people? If it is, that's fine, but if not, then let's not clutter the page with info that nobody's using. Robin Hoodtalk 04:55, 19 August 2010 (UTC)

Some (like me) use this page to explore the stock clothing models using console commands; knowing which items I can skip, since they use the same model/texture, saves time.107.10.78.185 03:52, 4 December 2010 (UTC)

Beautiful Blue Silk[edit]

model[edit]

Shall we add some picture in this page, every time i want to find a match clothing and it took me a long time to search(Vvardfell 05:31, 23 October 2010 (UTC))

Did any people saw my change? Should I continue for other parts? (Vvardfell 09:27, 26 October 2010 (UTC))

Forester's Shirt[edit]

Lovely bit of kit if you're going for a sort of Robin Hood-type character.

Just wondering, though. When you wear it with leather greaves - and various other trousers - they clip right through the shirt when you walk/run and you can just see buttocks sticking out.

How might one go about stopping this? Is it a transparency thing in texturing, or a more complicated problem?

Emperor Robes and Shoes[edit]

On xbox 360 is it possible to get these items. Whether from Uriel Septim or Martin? --Manic 12:53, 6 December 2010 (UTC)

Yes indeey-doo! Simply use the permanant zero-weight bound armor glich (as explained on this site) and reverse pick-pocket those items onto Martin when he is wearing the robes and shoes. The Robes and shoes will be in his inventory ready for the taking.

--67.58.183.241 07:30, 2 January 2011 (UTC)Anon Khajiit

there is also a more complex way on ps3 and xbox 360 get staff of worms or if you have shivering isles risen flesh and skull of corruption go make shure you did no quests involving the sewers then go back to the sewers reanimate the empror use the skull of corruption and kill the clone real fast (u will be on ur own baraus will just stare) than as its falling look at it save than reload and press X a bunch of times (on ps3) or A on xbox it will go to its invintory and u can get the empror shoes and robes oddly he has 2 pairs of shoes — Unsigned comment by 68.80.123.145 (talk) at 20:41 on May 15, 2011

Actually, you cannot do the enchanted armor glitch, he will not equip it.

Shirt with suspenders[edit]

i found a pair in leafrot cave while doing the affairs of a wizard quest.

ah, now i see that there are two types. i thought i stumbled across something special.

Question[edit]

If you pickpocket an article of clothing into an NPC's pocket, will they eventually change into the said clothing? Shianni 02:52, 6 February 2011 (UTC)

I believe that an NPC will equip the best enchantment into each slot. If they have no enchanted I think it goes to worth in gold. Not entirely sure though... --DKong27 Talk Cont 03:14, 6 February 2011 (UTC)
So...If it's enchanted, they have a higher probability of equipping it? Shianni 06:02, 6 February 2011 (UTC)
I think it would probably Enchanted is more likely, but Ive always read that the main factor is which one is first alphabetically, which is why every page says to name your enchanted gear "aaaa".--Catmaniac66 06:11, 6 February 2011 (UTC)

Seer's stone[edit]

It redirects here, someone should add it to the page. — Unsigned comment by 139.222.224.182 (talk) on 20 April 2011

It's already on - under it's proper name: "Manduin's Amulet". I'll add a note, though. rpeh •TCE 14:57, 20 April 2011 (UTC)

Sortable?[edit]

Should the Tables in this article be made sortable? I think I could do it, and it might be helpful for people searching for specific properties of the clothes. It would be easier to find zero-wight, high-cost, or other notable pieces. - Neural Tempest 05:46, 21 April 2011 (UTC)

Good work making the tables sortable. I had wondered about that myself a few times, but never got around to it. --DKong27 Talk Cont 13:02, 21 April 2011 (UTC)

Garments & Amulets[edit]

Which pieces of clothing allow an amulet to show through? I don't believe any robes do, I've only ever found that the emporer's robes & Mankar Camoran's robes allow this (presumably for the AoK). Could it be worth mentioning with pieces of clothing/armor do allow this?

Amulet Light[edit]

Okay, so when I put on an amulet in my inventory, wycharacter will light up as if I had cast a light spell. I take the amulet off, it oges away. Another time, I put on the amulet, no light. Can anyone explain anything else about this, or has anyone else had this happen and should it be added to the article? Any help would be greatly appreicated. (Yes, I know my spelling isn't completely correct, I just don't care because it is the end of summer.)

Black Hood and Necromancer's Hood[edit]

Aren't they really the same just with different names? I have looked at them on my character and they look identical. Lucien LachanceDB 06:02, 14 December 2011 (UTC)

They use different model files and have different stats, so even if they look similar, they would appear to be different from what I can see in the Construction Set at a glance. Robin Hoodtalk 20:26, 9 January 2012 (UTC)

Blue Collar Shirt[edit]

The Clothing page says only two exist, but I think I found a third. Maro Rufus of The Best Defense was wearing one on his trip to the Temple of the One, and I was able to buy it off him once my Mercantile reached 50. I thought it might be the work of a mod, but the only ones I have are the Unofficial Patches, Galerion's Natural Leveling and Quest Award Leveller.PrinceJonathan (talk) 03:37, 24 March 2013 (GMT)PrinceJonathan
