The Dark Minion is a vampiric Dark Elf nightblade who moves into Deepscorn Hollow when the Deepscorn Dark Minion upgrade is purchased from Rowley Eardwulf.
The Dark Minion wears one of only four black hoods in the game, along with a dark shirt, a pair of laced leather pants, a pair of leather boots, and a leather bracer. In combat he relies entirely on a leveled dagger. As a vampire, the Dark Minion possesses all relevant stage 4 vampirism abilities. He cannot transmit Porphyric Hemophilia, however.
His room is off to the right of the underwater entrance to the hollow. He may be ordered to "murder in the name of Sithis", at which point he will leave the lair, returning two days later at midnight with random leveled loot. This loot can be found in the minion's room in a wooden chest. Details of his mission may be found on the Deepscorn Hollow page.
The minion himself is quite macabre, one of his pastimes being "painting" by using the blood of a corpse. He sleeps from midnight to 5am in his quarters, before wandering around for an hour. At 6am, if you've purchased the Cattle Cell upgrade, he will head over the cell to feed the sleeping prisoner. Otherwise he will continue wandering. Either way, at 8am he heads to the Bastion for a two-hour breakfast, before heading back and either tending to the garden of Venomgrowth with a rake (if you purchased the Garden upgrade) or wandering around for the next four hours. At 2pm he will start a three-hour boxing session in his quarters, after which he heads over to the Sithis shrine for blessing and prayers (if you've bought the Ichor of Sithis) or keeps wandering around until 8pm. At this point he eats a two-hour dinner and then spend the rest of the evening reading, before heading to bed at midnight.
Related Quests[edit]

Dialogue[edit]
When you approach your Minion he will greet your approach by saying:
- "Sithis be with you, Brother/Sister."
Speaking to the Minion will have him say:
- "At your service, Master."
You may either ask him to kill in the name of Sithis or tell him that you have no need of him at the moment.
- Murder in the name of Sithis.
- I have no need of you right now.
Regardless of which dialogue option you choose, his reply is the same:
- "Yes, Master. Whatever you say."
As you end a conversation with him he will say farewell with the line:
- "Walk always in the Shadow of Sithis."
Notes[edit]
- The Dark Minion reads books between 10pm and midnight, and may pick up any books he finds in Deepscorn Hollow, including those that you have left lying around. If he takes any important books, you can usually pick his pocket while he sleeps to retrieve them.
- All of the Minion's dialogue is reused from elsewhere. His lines where he refers to you as "Master" are taken from Modryn Oreyn. The lines where he mentions Sithis are instead taken from the radiant Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary dialogue system. All generic lines were also recorded in the male elf voicetype in the base game, but seeing as there is no male elf part of the Sanctuary, these lines went unused originally.
- Rowley Eardwulf also reuses the same Sithis-related goodbye line. Although his line was originally said by Vicente Valtieri.
Bugs[edit]
- The Minion might disappear on a mission to kill somebody and never reappear. This may be caused by the Minion's scripting; you need to be near where he left for the scripting to resume processing. If your Minion has disappeared, go to where the trapdoor ladder is and he may return.
- The Unofficial Oblivion DLC Patches, version 7, fixes this bug.
- Using the
player.moveto
console command with the ref ID of the Dark Minion may cause him to reappear.
- It is possible for the Minion to stop correctly functioning if he gets sent out on a mission repeatedly because of some variables not being reset.
- The Unofficial Oblivion DLC Patches, version 22, fixes this bug.
