Percius the Chipmunk[edit]

Tonight, after I finished all of Harundi's quests, I came to Percius for more Orders. I was running too fast with a speed and strength both 100 and I accidently stepped off the staircase and on to the top of Percius's head. Percius did his "Pleasant meeting" greeting and -- I swear I am not making this up -- his voice was high like a chipmunk's. It sounded like he had been breathing helium. --Brf 00:25, 16 May 2008 (EDT)

I was able to duplicate this the next time I visited Percius. I stepped off the stairs onto his head and he talks like a chipmunk. I wonder if it is a glitch or an Easteregg. If it is a duplicatable characteristic of Percius, it might be mentioned on this page as a quirk of the NPC discussed. --Brf 08:04, 16 May 2008 (EDT)
It's a known glitch, and occurs with several NPCs (notably several guards at Fort Frostmoth). If the player jumps over them while they're talking (or just prior to their spoken greeting), their voices climb into the higher register that you noticed.– KJR1012 Talk Email Contribs 12:16, 16 May 2008 (EDT)
Ah. I didnt see it mentioned on the gitch page or anything--Brf 12:23, 16 May 2008 (EDT)
Not sure that it actually qualifies as a glitch, per se. I'm not that knowledgeable about game programming, so I don't know how the sound file gets altered, or if it should.– KJR1012 Talk Email Contribs 15:02, 16 May 2008 (EDT)
The Morrowind:Glitches article doesn't mention all glitches and odd behavior, the list would simply be too long. If you're curious, you can take a look at what the Morrowind Mod:UMP has listed XD --BenouldTC 15:27, 16 May 2008 (EDT)
It's not a glitch. It's deliberate, and an attempt to mimic the Doppler effect. The only thing close to a glitch is that the game judges the alteration of the sound file by how long you have been off the ground, standing on NPCs not counting as on the ground, rather than relative velocity between the player and point of emission of the sound file. 32.156.132.12 19:26, 20 June 2009 (EDT)
