"Chaos cannot be defeated…"
—Runemaster Xiomara[1]

Xiomara was a powerful Dunmer Arcanist inhabiting Runemaster's Acropolis in Apocrypha active during the Interregnum of the Second Era. His extraordinary power caught attention of Vivec of the Tribunal.[1][2]

History[edit]

Abyssal Tendril
Shard of Order

Little is known of Xiomara's life. Among his possessions was an ebony shalk mounting, a fragment of the ancient Velothi Ur-Mage's Amulet.[1][3]

As of 2E 582, reports from the Ordinators of the city of Necrom indicated that Runemaster Xiomara, rising in Apocrypha, was growing stronger with each passing day, leaving many warriors dead in his wake. His increasing power caught the attention of Vivec himself, who sought to intervene before Xiomara could begin affecting Tamriel. According to the Ordinators, Lord Vivec desired to fully comprehend any potential threats to the Tribunal Temple and its people. However, their knowledge of Xiomara was limited—his power was unlike anything they had encountered, not just over souls and magicka, but over knowledge itself. Without access to his tomes and codices, they were left with many unanswered questions.[2]

The Ordinators sought to curtail Xiomara's power and gain a deeper understanding of his abilities. They tasked contracted warriors with gathering arcane residue from those Xiomara had slain, providing them with specialized devices to aid in this task.[2] In the end, the warriors requested by the Ordinators succeeded in defeating Xiomara and collected the arcane residue from the fallen. This residue was believed to help Vivec better understand Xiomara's newfound powers and develop effective countermeasures.[2][4]

Notes[edit]

  • Tavi Dromio's novels from the Third Era, Vernaccus and Bourlor, Bone, and Hallgerd's Tale, feature a character named Xiomara. It remains unclear whether this character is purely fictional, as some figures in Dromio's works are based on actual historical individuals. The connection, if any, between the fictional Xiomara and Runemaster Xiomara is uncertain.[5][6][7]
