Mannimarco with the Staff of Worms

The Staff of Worms is the legendary treasured artifact of Mannimarco. It is a powerful and dreadful staff with the capability to reanimate a corpse. This animated corpse remains mute and shows only minimal intelligence, but it unswervingly follows and defends the caster.[1][2][3] Mannimarco used the staff for many of his spells and rituals, notably tearing open Mundus during the Soulburst[4] and battling Abnur Tharn.[5]

History[edit]

Mannimarco wielded the staff during the Interregnum of the Second Era,[6] and around the time of the Oblivion Crisis at the end of the Third Era.[7]

Sometime in the Fourth Era, a necromancer collected items for his lair, ranging from trinkets to artifacts that fit the morbid and macabre. He had become fixated with obtaining the artifacts of Mannimarco; the Bloodworm Helm and the Staff of Worms. He recruited an apprentice named Naara, who then attempted to slay him and take the artifacts he had found for herself. This would be her downfall, for the apprentice got trapped within the room which had been turned into a puzzle. If Naara wanted to take the artifacts, she would have to earn them by using them to figure out the puzzle to be freed from the trap. Circa 4E 201, The Last Dragonborn located the Necromancer's lair at Mara's Eye Pond and completed the puzzles there. They navigated the necromancer's puzzle, earning the right to keep Mannimarco's artifacts.[8]
