Silence[edit]
Silence is a dual illusion and mysticism spell that temporarily prevents the target from casting spells. More specifically, it is a spell that extinguishes sound[1] and bends sound in a shape like a cone. In the book, Silence written by Ganpheril Kimeth, the Third Era mage, Erer Darothril teaches an aspirant wizard named Oristian Silverthorn the means to perform the spell. As he used Silence on his glass and tapped on it, he had Silverthorn close his eyes and picture the sound as a physical entity. Silverthorn was able to successfully learn this technique and apprehend the rogue battlemage, Egroamaro in Indoranyon.[2]
Silence is also an alchemical trait. Some ingredients, when mixed to create a poison of silence include bergamot seeds, a black rose, harrada, malachite, rat meat. As per Shad Astula's curriculum, Silence is taught in Illusion I among other simple manipulations.[3] The clan of vampires from the Iliac Bay, the Lyrezi are proficient in the silence spell.[4] Some notable weapons and artifacts are enchanted with silence. The Ebony Blade; Mephala's daedric artifact,[5][6] the Mazken dark bow of the Shivering Isles; Ruin's Edge,[7] the Dwemer tower shield; Spellbreaker.[8][9]
Soul Trap[edit]
Soul Trap (or Soultrap) is a soul magic spell used to capture an entity's soul within a soul gem upon death. Some variations of the spell could also directly harm the target as well. Although traditionally categorized under the School of Conjuration, it was historically considered to be a Mysticism spell during the Third Era.
Spellmirror[edit]
Spellmirror (or Shalidor's Mirror) is a spell used to reflect incoming hostile spells back at their caster. It is classified under the school of Thaumaturgy, and Mysticism. It is also part of the 7th Circinate. Spellmirror was forged by the Arch-Mage Shalidor. Shalidor bore his Spellmirror into battle, possibly during the Battle of Rourken-Shalidor, which also saw the use of the Spellbreaker shield with similar properties.
