Sir Casimir was a Redguard knight from the early-mid Third Era. In life, he was one of the original Knights of the Nine and wielded the Gauntlets of the Crusader. After he infamously struck down a beggar in Chorrol's Chapel of Stendarr, the gauntlets slipped off his hands and remained unmoveable on the chapel's floor for three hundred years. His bloodline became cursed with constant weariness ever since.

History

When Sir Casimir joined the Knights of the Nine is unknown, however, he was the one who recovered the Gauntlets and kept them as his personal armor. At the time, it was one of the order's few victories. In 3E 121, the War of the Red Diamond erupted and tore not just the Empire, but the Knights of the Nine apart. Sir Berich Vlindrel was the first to leave the order. Sir Casimir was one of several knights to follow him and join King Cephorus of Gilane against Potema. After the war ended in 3E 127, Casimir returned to Cyrodiil and tried to return to the Nine's service at the Chapel of Stendarr in Chorrol.

His experiences in the war changed him however, and he lost any tolerance for the weak and suffering. During his brief time in the chapel, he believed he did more harm than good, especially on the day he lost his gauntlets in 3E 139. There was a beggar who regularly visited the chapel until one day, Casimir lost patience with him and in his temper, struck a severe blow, killing them. He instantly left the chapel but for defying his teachings in his own temple, Stendarr cursed him. He was constantly weary and barely possessed the energy to do anything. Casimir left Cyrodiil for Hammerfell where he and his family have lived until his eventual passing. His spirit returned to the Priory of the Nine so that in death he could safeguard the Crusader's cuirass with his fellow knights.

The curse was not only on him but his children and their children thereafter, for the next three hundred years. The last one affected by the curse was Kellen, who in his old age traveled to Chorrol and the Chapel of Stendarr seeking a cure. In 3E 433, the early years of the Knights of the Nine's revival, the Divine Crusader quested all over Cyrodiil and came to Chorrol to get the gauntlets, like other aspiring adventurers. The Crusader made the selfless move to take on Kellen's curse, freeing him and his family. Kellen, full of spirit and energy, left the chapel to explore the world while the Crusader effortlessly took the gauntlets. After Umaril the Unfeathered was finally defeated, the original knights, having also fulfilled their duty, were at peace and ascended to Aetherius to serve the divines in the next life.

  The timeline of events suggests that after the war, Sir Casimir was at the chapel briefly after the war, until his incident in 3E 139. However, certain sources like the Wolf Queen claim that the War of the Red Diamond ended in 3E 127, twelve years before Casimir's incident, while other sources like the Madness of Pelagius say the war ended after the Siege of Solitude in 3E 137. While the former is considered historical fiction, the latter is discredited for an incorrect record of Pelagius' early years. This was confirmed by the writer for both texts, Ted Peterson.
