"As Cyrodiil's Province General for the Fighters Guild, I take my responsibility to educate and protect seriously. Knowledge, which I offer you here, is a mighty weapon—a population that knows what to look for can stop a cult before it manages any large-scale atrocities."
—Flaminius Auctor[1]

General Flaminius Auctor was a member of the Council of Province Generals of the Fighters Guild during the turbulent times of the Interregnum. He represented his homeland, Cyrodiil, on the council.[2]

History[edit]

Little is known about Flaminius Auctor's past. He hailed from Cyrodiil and rose through the ranks of the Fighters Guild, eventually becoming the Province General of its Cyrodiilic chapter. By 2E 582, he had long held the privilege and honor of serving as the guild's arm in the heart of the Empire.[2]

As of 2E 582, he was active in the investigation of the death of former guildmaster Jofnir Iceblade. After Jofnir's successor Sees-All-Colors was found responsible for his death, Flaminius, along with other council members, appointed Merric at-Aswala as the new leader of the guild.[2]

He authored books focused on combating various types of Daedra, with particular emphasis on the servants of Vaermina and Mehrunes Dagon. In his work Thwarting the Daedra: Mehrunes Dagon, he detailed methods for countering the influence of Dagon. As Cyrodiil's Province General for the Fighters Guild, he took his role in education and protection seriously. He believed that every citizen should be vigilant for signs of Daedric activity and provided clear guidelines on how to thwart such activities, especially those related to Mehrunes Dagon. He emphasized the importance of reporting any suspicious activities to the professionals of the guild.[1] He also wrote a text dedicated to the proper understanding of the weaknesses of the members of Clan Dreamcarver, a faction of Dremora serving Vaermina. He believed it was only fair to turn their weapons against them—or at the very least, to equip others with the knowledge to recognize Dreamcarvers for what they truly are when encountered in battle.[3][4] He was also known to answer questions regarding Daedra in correspondence, addressing topics such as the major distinctions between the threats posed by Mehrunes Dagon and Molag Bal. He spoke of the rivalry between the two and engaged in debates about the dangers associated with the lack of protection of the Dragonfires.[5]

Amidst the many threats plaguing Cyrodiil, Province General Flaminius Auctor has decided that the Gray Viper gang must be dealt with. They were preying on defenseless towns, and the guild was dedicated to protecting these people. He made sure that contracts were issued to confront the threat.[6]

Flaminius Auctor was known to doubt the existence of the Dov-Vahl Shrine in the Scar, a sanctuary for the disgraced and disbanded Dragonguard following the assassinations of the Akaviri Potentates.[7]
