Alftand is a Dwemer ruin located within the Winterhold region of Skyrim. Alftand is unique among Dwemer ruins in that it is the only one built partially atop an active glacier. In addition to its unique location, the Dwemer of Alftand had their own unique style of iconography.[1] The Great Lift at Alftand, which leads into Blackreach, can be found in the Pale, overlooking the main road and Lake Yorgrim. According to Septimus Signus, Alftand is "The point of puncture, of first entry, of the tapping."[2]
History[edit]
In 4E 201, Sulla Trebatius led an expedition of adventurers into Alftand in search of hidden treasures. His group was stalked and captured by the Falmer before eventually succumbing to madness and killing each other. Later that year, after consulting with Septimus Signus, the Last Dragonborn traveled to Alftand in order to retrieve an Elder Scroll hidden in Blackreach.[3] Also during this year, the Dragonborn would discover the schematics for a Dwarven fishing rod that was rumored to be in Alftand.[4]
