Viscount Marcius Carvain

Viscount Marcius Carvain, an Imperial warrior, is a petty noble in his brother Count Desilus Carvain's court at Castle Bruma. He is also the author of An Explorer's Guide to Skyrim and A Traveler's Guide to Bruma.

He sleeps from midnight to 7am in the Guest Wing of the castle, before enjoying a two-hour breakfast in the Great Hall. From 9am to 2pm he will be found slouched on a chair near the throne in the Great Hall, lazily listening to his older brother hold court. At 2pm, he heads out to visit the Cathedral of St. Martin and will spend three hours praying there, returning at 6pm for a two-hour dinner in the Great Hall. He will then spend the rest of the evening relaxing. The only exception to this schedule is during Service Rewarded, when he will be waiting in the throne room alongside his fellow nobles to acclaim you Friend to Bruma.

As befits his status, the Viscount is richly dressed in Colovian fine clothes, fine boots and a leveled ring and necklace. He is armed with a steel tanto and also carries a random assortment of jewelry, gems, gold, lockpicks, food and drink.

Dialogue[edit]

Marcius revels in his status, as will be evident upon meeting him:

"Marcius Carvain, Viscount Bruma. The title garners a lot of respect and a fair few privileges. Anyway, how can I help you?"
"I am Marcius Carvain, viscount Bruma, at your service. Have you read my book, by any chance?"

If you inquire about the book he will explain:

"Yes! "An Explorer's Guide to Skyrim". Very popular in Skyrim, seems to turn up in the most unusual of places."

If you ask about being a Viscount Marcius is serious:

"It's quite interesting. It also affords me a fair amount of respect, being the count's second-in-command is no mean feat."

When pressed on his actual duties he explains:

"As Viscount, I am a sort of... secondary count, if you will. I deal with a lot of the same duties as the count, albeit deferring to him. Often, when the count is busy with other matters, he delegates lesser affairs to me."

On the topic of County Bruma he will say:

"The usual. Honest citizens, wild animals, bandits. All in one melting pot. That and stubborn Talos worshippers. They've always been a risk to Bruma since the Concordat. Old habits die hard."
