The Black Lichen sample has been inside for three months now. Jeel-Lei agrees that it appears to be still alive. We'll put it back outside in a few weeks and see if it resumes growth. It shouldn't be too long before we'll be able to work on Black Lichen growth acceleration.

I summoned another fire atronach. This one follows commands well and seems to be quite indifferent about being confined to a cell. I have attempted communication, but it insists on speaking in an unintelligible tongue. I may have to return to the library at Firewatch and see if there are any tomes on Daedric languages that I missed. Who would have thought that this project would require so much study in linguistics?

Jeel-Lei discovered a sizable crack in the wall a few feet above the fire pool. I will have to write to the councilors a recommendation to shut down the display until repairs can be made. My advice will probably be ignored -- I'm not even sure why I bother with those fools.

Strain "4C" of the Firefern is showing some promise. Fire resistance with anther of wild Black Willow shows a gain of 6%. With tincture of Frost Salts the gain is 11%. Combined with recent discoveries on increased Frost Salt production, this could lead to a new production of fire resistance preparation.
