Gallows Hall

Gallows Hall is a necromantic player home in Eastmarch, north of Mara's Eye Pond.

Unique necromancer features include a Bone Forge for creating permanent skeletal undead followers from raw materials, and an Altar of the Revenant which transforms 4 filled or empty Greater or Grand Soul Gems into 4 empty Black Soul Gems. Other useful features include a sleep bed, sleep coffin, cooking pot, anvil, workbench, grindstone, tanning rack, alchemy lab, arcane enchanter, 4 mannequins, 3 weapon plaques, as well as several bookshelves, display cases, storage cabinets, chests, cupboards, and wardrobes.

The home consists of a single zone spread across three circular floors. Design elements include coffins, skeletons, skulls, and bone piles.

Related Quests[edit]

Exterior[edit]

The exterior of the home is a simple wall and door just north of Mara's Eye Pond. The top of the tower is built into the rock formation directly behind it.

Interior[edit]

The interior consists of three floors, with the top floor being the ground-level entrance. The first room is an expansive space for crafting, and is the only accessible area until the related quest is complete.

Nearest the front door to the east is a hanging rack and several coffins. One is closed and suitable for item storage.

The Altar of the Revenant stands in the center of the room. The dead necromancer apprentice Naara lies dead leaning against the altar, with her pleas scattered around her. During the quest to solve the Arch Necromancer's clues and unlock the door, Naara will despawn.

The famed Staff of Worms lies on a table on the other side (north) of the Altar, at least until it starts moving as a result of the poltergeist-like enchantments that also seal the exit door.

The smithing area is on the north side of the room, to the east of the staircase and the dining area. Several shelves of ingots, a workbench, an anvil and a grindstone are available for use. However, the nearest smelter is in Kynesgrove and the nearest wood chopping block is at Mixwater Mill.

The middle floor is the sleeping area, with both a double bed and an upright coffin available for sleeping. Two bedrolls lie side by side on the floor but neither can be used by you. Three weapon racks and two small bookshelves allow for some easily accessible storage and display. On the right side of the chamber, a small table holds the legendary Helm of Oreyn Bearclaw and the Arch Necromancer's notes about the artifact.

On either side of the middle-floor hallway, stairs lead down to the lowest level and the Bone Forge.

Bugs[edit]

  • Using either the bed or the Coffin may not grant any Rested or Well Rested bonus, despite the appropriate amount of time passing. ?
