Detailed Walkthrough[edit]
Speak to Glirion the Redbeard to get the details of this quest.
- What's the pledge today?
- "Crypt of Hearts. The dark spirit of Nerien'eth has returned to the ruins. He leads an army of Daedric monsters. Cleansing the Crypt of Oblivion-spawn will be … challenging."
- Any way I can earn something extra?
- "If you're looking for an extra challenge, allow four of Nerien'eth's followers to survive until he takes up the dark blade. Face the ruins unafraid. And return Undaunted."
- I pledge to explore the Crypt of Hearts and return Undaunted.
Once you have accepted the quest, you can enter the Crypt of Hearts II dungeon either by accessing the dungeon through the Dungeon Finder, or heading to Rivenspire and entering the dungeon there with a group. You have the choice of entering the normal dungeon or the veteran version, this choice will affect if you can achieve the optional step and your rewards.
When inside the dungeon, you will need to progress through the dungeon, slaying the following bosses, Ruzozuzalpamaz, the Ilambris Amalgam and Nerien'eth. With the last boss, if you are in the veteran dungeon, you have the option of making sure to allow four Students to survive until Nerien'eth takes the Ebony Blade, to put the boss in hard mode.
Once you have completed the task, you can return to Glirion the Redbeard at any of the Undaunted Enclaves, and speak with him to complete the quest:
- "You have returned, with no obvious bodily harm. I commend you. The Crypt has been quieted?"
- Nerien'eth has been put to rest.
- "I have a reputation for not being overly … emotional. But the story of Alanwe and Nerien'eth stirs even my stony heart. It is good you could bring that tragic tale to an end."
- Indeed. May I have my reward? / What have I earned for destroying Nerien'eth?
Condition | Dialogue |
---|---|
Normal mode completed | "Undaunted seek glory and treasure. Good deeds are not chief among our concerns. You have managed to find room for both today. It is to be commended. Take your key and cut. The dead rest now, as you should. A new day approaches. It may be your last." |
Veteran mode completed | "Take your key, and your cut. I must have time to sit and ponder the tragic tale of the Crypt. Hopefully when we speak tomorrow, such sorrow will not be required." |
Veteran Hard Mode completed | "Then take your key, and your cut. I am glad it was you that laid Nerien'eth to rest, Undaunted. When we speak again tomorrow, I hope it will be of happier times." |

- Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
- Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in any order. Some stages may therefore repeat objectives seen in other stages.
