Intro[edit]
These steps will show you how to neatly transport your face between saves and plugins.
Requirements: Wrye Bash
Steps[edit]
Not all of these steps are necessary; this section simply gives instructions for all parts if you want to try those things.
Export face to plugin from save file[edit]
- Open up Wrye Bash, and click on the "Saves" tab.
- Right-click on the source save file
- Browse to the plugin to hold the face and select it
- Put the plugin with the face in it in the Data folder
Modify Face in Another Utility[edit]
You can use any utility to edit your character's face, not just TESCS, of course.
If the face depends on cosmetic mods...
- In Wrye Bash, right-click on the face's plugin, and choose "add masters"
- Choose any plugins you want to use source files from
- It is better if records in the source plugins do not overlap.
- Right-click on the face's plugin, and choose "Esmify masters"
Editing the face...
- Launch TESCS+OBSE using Bash's TESCS shortcut (along the bottom of the Bash window)
- Expand NPCs in the tree in the main dialog window, and find your face's race
- Note: custom race faces may be under some unknown acronym type thing (i.e., starting with "unk")
- Right-click on your NPC's record, and choose "edit"
- Make changes to your NPC's face
- Note: if you used a custom face, the face may not look normal until you set the race to what it should be
- Rename the face (or a duplicated record of the face) so that it is easier to find
- Close TESCS, saving changes to the plugin
- In Wrye Bash, if you used "Esmify masters," now undo it by right-clicking on the face's plugin and choosing "Espify masters"
- Note: ESPs with blue text are esmified, and should be espified back to normal
Import face to a save File[edit]
Remember that the face may look distorted if the PC is not of the same race as that of the face's source.
- In Wrye Bash, go to the Saves tab, and right-click on the target save file
- Browse to the plugin or save file containing the face.
- Check what you want to import
- checking stats and class may not give the desired result, especially when using mods that change stats, leveling, etc.
